Winnipeg International Airport by rdo911 If you plan to arrive by plane, Winnipeg is rarely a direct flight and your choice of carriers is limited. Air Canada is the dominant carrier in Canada and has the most International connections. If you are coming from another city in Canada, don't forget about WestJet. Also NorthWest Airlines and United Airlines provide service to Winnipeg. If you plan to go on to other destinations in Northern Manitoba you'll find CalmAir or Bearskin Airlines will probably provide service. by sirpantsalot We have an International Airport. For now it is small but it works. A major expansion is underway for the future. It's a big spread out city. On foot is not an option. There are no fast trains, subway or a metro. Just buses and taxis. There are several rental car agenies with many locations. Leave a Comment Theme: Airplane

Full name: Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport. "International" as in there are a few destinations in the USA and Carribean, but most flights fly to destinations within Canada or serve as transfers (e.g. to Toronto for European destinations and to Minneapolis for US destinations). To go from place to place in Winnipeg, you need wheels. Rent a car! Buses only seem to come every 1/2 hour, and only run from the suburbs to downtown and back. Avoid the rush hour - its not as bad as Vancouver, Toronto or Montreal - but why clog up the roadways for the locals. Leave a Comment Theme: Car/Motor Home

Winnipeg lies on the Trans-Canada Highway (Highway #1) and can be reached easily by car. It also has a small international airport. Although lacking a subway or tram network, I must admit that Winnipeg has an excellent public transportation system. Bustickets are valid throughout the entire city (no need to worry about zones and buying additional fares). FYI: Buses are free during the winter time in the event of a blizzard. by Srechko Winnipeg is surrounded by number of beautiful lakes and beaches. The biggest and the most famous is the Grand Beach, even though I prefer Winnipeg Beach - it is less crowded. Leave a Comment Theme: Car/Motor Home

by Willem_oa Winnipeg International Airport serves the great city of Winnipeg with flights to most of Canada, the US, and the Carribbean. I don't believe they have any international flights, like they used to. :( If you need to get around in Winnipeg, your best bet would be to rent a car, as the city is quite spread out, and our downtown (at the present) doesn't offer that much. You can also take buses for around $1.50 per trip (ask for a transfer if you need to transfer to another bus). The #11 and #21 run down our city's main thoroughfare, Portage Avenue. You can also call a taxi if you wish, and our city has a few 'water taxis' that run down the river in summertime. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

The transit system is inexpensive and is often faster than cars during rush hours. Bus rides are ~$1.65 CND. Leave a Comment Theme: Bus

There is the main highway 17 and highway 1 that goes through the city. They are some of the most used ways of getting into Winnipeg. If you have your own vehicle that's great but if you haven't been there very many times you should have a map because there are alot of one way roads. If you take a taxi be sure you still have a map because if you don't know your way around the city you could be paying alot of moneyfor a tour you didn't want around the city when it would have only taken five or ten minutes to get where you wanted.
