If you're visiting the city during the winter and are looking for something to do with kids (or maybe kids at heart ?) that's free, you might consider going tobogganing at the Potato Research Center (PRC), referred locally to as the "Experimental Farm".
Did I mention that it's something you can do for free ?
The hill is located just east of the entrance to the PRC off of Lincoln Rd., and you can use the parking lot at the top of the hill.
As well, there's often a skating area on the other side of Lincoln Rd., across from this hill.
Equipment: If you don't have, or can't borrow a toboggan, improvise!
A sheet of cardboard, pick up an inexpensive plastic slider at the store, or maybe you can get ahold of a large rubber inner tube somewhere.
