Currency Exchange
  • Tip Rating:
  • It appears that the banks here in Moncton advertise currency exchanging. Something that is so rare to find in smaller cities in America is so common in parts of Canada. For that reason alone Canada is more set for handling foreign tourists than America is.

This particular branch is from Quebec and is located in downtown Moncton. So all my European and American friends, you'll be served.

    Gas in Canada

    Petro-Canada, Moncton NB

Gas…oops…I mean PETROL in Canada was about as expensive as it was in the USA. The gas station we went to just outside of Moncton has a fill-up style very similar to the southern United States, and very unlike Oregon and New Jersey.

A and W, although somewhat a different looking logo from the A and W in United States, had pretty much the same food as the American counterpart. The petrol stations here were remarkably cleaner than on the other side of the border.

    Just some random thoughts
  • Tip Rating:
  • Katey and I kept the radio playing through most of Canada instead of listening to our CD's. We always got a kick out of the accent used on the commercials out here. That’s the reason for this notation. It's not as exaggerated as Americans make it out to be, but there is a distinct difference between the two countries. Note: Those in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and the Dakota states sound more Canadian than American.

Maine is the closest American state to New Brunswick, but considering their closeness geographically, you'd think they'd sound similar. This is not the case. Those from Maine have a distinct accent where they drop the letter R like Bostonians, whereas Canada has an "oo" sound with their "ou."

  • Tip Rating:
  • I think the place i would recommend the most is Shediac which is 20 minutes from here and is a beautiful sea side town. The beach is all white sand right on the ocean - spend the day at the beach... go into town on main street and eat a lobster and then off to one of the 2 drive'ins left in new brunswick for a double movie.

Well I live here so the only real thing I miss when I'm away from here is my friends.

  • Climate
New Brunswick has a blend of climate typical of a coastal area and that of an inland province. Summers are typically warm and comfortable—but not too hot. Many pleasant but cooler days are experienced in spring and autumn. Temperatures are given in Celsius rather than Fahrenheit

    Magnetic Hill
  • Tip Rating:
  • While not the most exciting thing in the world, for 2$ its worthwile to go on Magnetic Hill. Because of its location below sea level this optical illusion is ineteresting. You bring your car to the bottom of the hill, take it out of gear and you actually coast backwards up the hill!

  • Tip Rating:
  • Not much more than an hour's drive south of Moncton is the Bay of Fundy, site of the highest tides in the world. While sitting over dinner in a quay-side restaurant, we watched the tide come in and raise boats which had been sitting on bare wet sand when we drove up and parked.
