Visit Cupids, the first English Colony in Canada. Cupids was established in 1610. In 1615, John Mason was governing the colony when Squantum arrived. Squantum had been kidnapped from Massachusetts and was sola as a slave in Spain.

He finally escaped on an English vessel that took him to London and then to Sea Forest Plantation at Cupids, Conception Bay, Newfoundland.

Thomas Dermer invited Squantum to join his crew of Buccaneers Captain Dermer. In New England, Dermer released Squantum from service.

Soon after the Pilgrim Fathers arrived, they were introduced to Squantum. Squantum taught the Pilgrim Fathers how to plant Indian Corn and was a guide and a philosopher for the infant colony until his death in an epidemic two years later.
