John Terriak is a world reknown inuit carver located in Nain. His carvings are exceptional and make for excellant souviners! There is no better purchase.
What to buy: I would suggest a whale carving or maybe a polar bear, seal or one of inuit people made from either whale bone, soap stone, marbel or labradorite.
What to pay: It depends on the size of carving you choose but it can range from less than $100 to several thousand.
In Nain if you want to get some great prices on some of the worlds best seafood you can buy it at the local fish plant at great prices.

There is a lot of activity as well in this area of town and a great place to meet some local people.
Nain happens to be site of an impressive "Labradorite" quarry. A rare and beautiful mineral. It is used in local crafts and carvings but mainly gets shipped to Italy where it is transformed into the most beautiful furniture the world has to offer!

There is not much to buy in Nain because there are only two large stores. They are Northern and Big land Grocery.
