    Quidi Vidi Lake

by jamiesno Written May 1, 2004

One of the best places to relax and walk is around the Quidi Vidi Lake in St. John's. It is a great lake with a trail right around it and you can then go into Quidi Vidi Village.

There is also a dog park on one side of the lake.

This is also the site of the famous St. John's Regatta each summer. If its a nice day for walking I would recommend going here. There is plenty of free parking in the area.

Remember to rate my tips and leave your comments :-).

Besides a great place to walk, along the Quidi Vidi Lake you will find lots of Sea Gulls which are nothing to write home about but also plenty of ducks.

They are freindly and as you can see from my pictures you can get rather close to them to problem.

    Enjoy your time here :-)

    Quidi Vidi Brewery & Beer

This brewery produces the Quidi Vidi Light Beer of Newfoundland, and is located at Quidi Vidi. The building is very distinct, so you should be able to spot it. Also, do try out the beer as it is quite good and apparently water comes from melted icebergs!

Quidi Vidi (pronounced Kiddy Viddy) is a small fishing village now within the city limits of St. John's. There's a lake that is the home to the oldest sporting event in North America, the Royal St. John's Regatta. Records of this event go back to 1818. The village contains one of the oldest houses in the city, built in the 1700's. There's a souvenir shop in it now. Figures! It is still a working fishing village, and there are a couple of very old pubs and restaurants here.

Also you will find a micro brewery, the Quidi Vidi Brewing Company who's products are very popular around town. There are fishing shacks across the small harbour beneath the hill where the old Battery sits. This Battery was rebuilt several times after being founded by the French in the 1760's.

by crummey Written Jun 26, 2007

Check Out the Quidi Vidi Garden Party, which is an annual event.

Visit Mallard Cottege and the Quidi Vidi Inne of Olde; walk on the scenic trails, explore Quidi Vidi Battery ( refurbished to circa 1790); play games like Crown & Anchor, and have a great day!!

This is the oldest cottage in North America which dates back to 1750s. Located at Quidi Vidi, this cottage is now a national heritage site and an antique shop.
