    moose on Skyline hike

We were amazed how the moose ignored us. We were on the Skyline trail hiking the long way back to our car when twice we came across a solitary moose eating lunch such as this one. She never so much as glanced at us. We could tell that she was aware of us by looking at her ears.

I couldn't decide how close to get. She didn't seem to mind me coming closer, but there were no trees to hide behind if she decided to charge me, so after watching her for a few minutes we left.

    grouse

We often came across grouse while hiking. These birds seem to forage on foot, and also did not show much concern about us. Probably realized we would never be able to catch them anyway.

They were hogging the path. After they finished eating all the berries on the path, they moved aside for us.
