Visit a wonderful Dutch cheese shop in Upper Economy. They have several different kinds of cheese as well as Dutch candy and a variety of gifts. You can also see where they make the cheese as well as learn a lesson on cheesemaking on the walls near the front of the store. In the summer, they also have a small cafe serving cheese sandwiches, apple tarts, and ice cream. And they sell their cheese at the Halifax Farmers Market and on their website, in case you don't want to visit their shop. If you do go to their shop, it's a beautiful area, so after getting some cheese, take a walk around.

What to buy: I liked the smoked maple and the cumin gouda.
