Everyone in Halifax is super friendly.. I met some guys from Texas while I was there, a cheerleading team, and tons of locals.. everyone was interested in learning more about you, and where you were from..
Here's a shot of my friend Jarret in Halifax.. Hmm.. how do you get three nearly underage girls to start talking to you? Well, if you're Jarret, you simply poke one of them, turn around, and then pose for a picture.. Seemed to work for him...

There is no dress code in Halifax, except maybe at the Liquor Dome..
Fyfer and Drum and the upper and lower deck!
Fyfer and drum always has great live bands from the east coast and the upper and lower deck is true maritime drinking. Old fashioned pine tables and benches with the ale coming around at a fast pace with the music celtic of course. They encourage you to sing along.
Dress Code:
anything goes at these spots - however most will be in shorts and tshirt or jeans.
PUBS worth checking out: My Father's Moustache, Thirsty Duck, Tickle Trunk (if you're young!), The Lower Deck (A must!), The Split Crow, The Fife And Drum, The Golden Triangle, O'Carroll's, Maxwell's Plum (go here if you miss your favourite brew from home), The Midtown Tavern (cheap food and cheap drinks), Peddler's Pub, The Seahorse Tavern (YEAH!).
Pubs near the water tend to have more irish/celtic music with bagpipes. So if you don't like it, head further away from the water. The pubs around Spring Garden Road has more rock/pop music :) (not all of them have live music)
Trendy/Late Night Food: Argyle Street Bar and Grill, East Side Mario's (no idea why, since it sucks), The seahorse (thin crust pizza's), Gatsby's, The Apple Barrel (definitely quantity over quality here), Alfredo Weinstein and Ho's (right next to the DO-ME).
So many and so little time. They are all within walking distance or crawling if you need to do a pub crawl. Watch out for Mardi Gras at the end of October. ALthough watching the sun rise on Halifax pier is great but not from the back of a Police Car. Hey I was a witness not a suspect.
The celtic music and live bands. Homegrown is the best!
Alexander Keiths Brewery at the Brewery Market is a nice spot to go. There are several Pubs and restaurants around.
This town has pubs on nearly every corner. This is the one that we ended up in for a few drafts and pub food.
