Split Crow, The, Halifax
The Split Crow has been open since 1979. It's a pub, clean and simple. No dance floor but that doesn't stop people from dancing wherever they stand. They play Irish/Scottish/sea shanty type music mainly which is popular for this area. It's my favourite watering hole downtown. Food isn't bad and there is an outdoor patio in the summer. The general age of the crowd is a little older, though at times, especially "Power hour", there may be more university aged crowd than not.
Waiters Scott, Doug, Steve and Deb behind the bar will take good care of you.
Dress Code: Casual
We spent alot of time in Halifax hanging out at the Split Crowe downtown. It has two levels, a main floor and the basement. The basement has a bar, but it's pretty dark and somewhat depressing.. If you can, sit on the main floor.. There's lots of light, great beer, friendly people, and usually live music.
Dress Code: Free for all..
Their are to many good bars around the area to name them all, but the ones we spent the most time at were Peddler's Pub, Split Crows & Bearly's.
All of these bars had great bands & were packed with university students & tourists.
Dress Code: Casual wear.
This town has pubs on nearly every corner. This is the one that we ended up in for a few drafts and pub food.
