Mug & Anchor Pub, Mahone Bay.: Great for a beer and a bite to eat.

    by Tricky_Dicky69 Written Jun 20, 2010

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

The Mug & Anchor is in an ideal location that fronts onto the main street and has a terrace at the rear that looks over the harbour. we popped in a couple of times for a beer and lunch time snacks. The place gets pretty busy and tables are sometimes hard to come by. Be there early for a table on the terrace if the weather is good !!

Favorite Dish: The food is the run of the mill pub type but everything that we had was pretty good.

    Worth a visit.

The Inlet Cafe Restaurant, Mahone Bay

We dined at The Inlet Cafe Restaurant on our first evening in Mahone Bay and returned the following night. The Inlet is situated just out of Mahone Bay if you head east it's just past the 3 churches, which you can't miss. There are nice views from the outside terrace.

Favorite Dish: The menu was pretty varied with something for all tastes. Service was efficient and all the food sampled was good. Wine prices were reasonable too, which is a bonus.

    Worth a visit.

Joanne's Deli and Bake Shop: Great squares

by CdnJane Written Jun 16, 2007

I hadn't had lunch so needed something to get me going. I had a wonderful lemon square. It was quite reasonable. They had lots of yummmy looking tarts, squares, cookies, pies and cakes, as well as a deli where they made sandwiches, soup, and salads. (Yes, I know, should've had one of them but wasn't THAT hungry.)

Favorite Dish: Lemon Square - sort of a cream cheese mix with the lemon. YUMMY!

The Happy Cooker: Good food, well priced

Used to be called the Exit 13 Grill, before that, the Coffee Corral. Just good diner food - no real ambience, but the homemade desserts - I never miss one of those. My husband always gets the grilled chicken on garlic bread, and I vary. Nothing special about the food, but it is well priced, and filling - have the Apple Crumble (with ice cream!) or the blueberry pie - yum!

    Favorite Dish: See above

Kedy's Inlet - Mahone Bay NS

Kedy's Inlet is one of the best smaller restaurants. They serve some of the best Nova Scotia seafood and other traditional Canadian meals.

The homemade desserts are fantastic; those are also available for takeaway.

If the weather permits you can dine on the terrace.

Mug & Anchor: Good food and atmosphere

    Mader's Wharf at night

Good, reasonably priced pub food and some seafood in pub-style surroundings. Don't miss the Quebec-style poutine, unless you value your health.

In nice weather, try to get a seat on the outside deck overlooking the harbor.

    Shatford's By The Sea

If you are having a day trip around Peggy's Cove, Mahone Bay and Lunenburg area, then you can consider having lunch at Shatford's By the Sea. This seafood restaurant is located at 731, Highway 329, Fox Point and serves many delicious seafood dishes, especially the lobsters. The good thing about this restaurant is the the food is cheap as compared to restaurants at Halifax (because they are also a seafood wholesaler), the staff are friendly and the restaurant is very cosy with a good view of the sea (see photographs). I enjoyed my lobster and seafood lunch at tbis restaurant, and if you are interested, please check out their website at http://shatfordlobster.com and telephone (902)8573439 or email joy@shatfordlobster.com

    Tim Horton's: Good quick breakfast

by thewisslers Written May 8, 2004

    Tim Horton's in the back

All Canadians know Tim Horton's well, but U.S. visitors may not. Similar to Dunkin Donuts but better. Very reasonable and tasty donuts and other baked goods, as well as soup and sandwiches. The cream and sugar is added to the coffee by the staff, so say "double double" (or whatever you want) when you order.
