My Wife loves The Northern Sun and always finds something that she would like to buy. I try to keep her away but without success. They have a wide selection of interesting items for sale and seem to be reasonably priced. The shop is on the main route through town by the water just down from the 3 churches.
You have been warned chaps.

There are some great giftware shops here - The Teaser, by the three churches, Comfort and Joy, Amos Pewter - see the ornaments being made - really interesting. For the Birds - anything you might want for a bird watcher/feeder! Some nice places for pet items. LaHave Bakery - the cheese and herb rolls are awesome - have to get some every time we visit. In the spring/summer/fall, Joanne's Bakery (I think that is the name) - great sweets, sandwiches, local fruits and veggies - I always get the banana bread and giant ginger snap cookies...but it is all so tempting.
What to buy: Souviners, pewter, jewelry

Bluestone Magik is just one of several souvenir shops in Mahone Bay, but for sure the one with the nicest owner. The shop is run by an Englishman who moved to Canada some years ago. He's very curious about all his customers and their origins and you can have interesting discussions with him.
What to buy: souvenirs, postcards, Bluestone Magik(TM) ;)
What to pay: the same as usual

The Teazer is named for a ship that was lost in a shipwreck a number of years ago. My friend Sue has it full of all sorts of interesting items - things for entertaining, things made in the area, things for gifts, things that are unique. The prices are good there too - you can definitely find something to suit your budget.
The other unique part of the shop is The Hairy Kids (a dog boutique) - things for your dog, or for the doglover in your life. There are some very healthy treats for dogs, in different flavours, and sizes and designs. There are beds for dogs, there are toys, there are accessories, and there are harnesses and leads. Well worth checking out. Oh and there are all sorts of cards for the dogowner to send or to receive!
What to buy: Landscape pictures, shells, seafood items. Dog gifts.
What to pay: $.50 to $$$ - you should have no problem meeting your budget with something good.

The Eclectic Garage is rammed full of all sorts and worth a look round if you are looking for something out of the ordinary. There are some antiques but it's more odds and ends.
