fresh seafood by arasnosliw The "Grand Banker" is a historic tall ship in Lunenburg. I was drawn to this restaurant in Lunenburg because of Happy Hour specials. Every day from 4-5:30 there are half price appetizers such as mussels, scallops, shrimp, and the local "solomon gundy" (pickled herring) Aside from some delicious (and cheap) appetizers I sampled some delicious and fresh seafood as my main course. I ordered a platter with mussels, scallops, salmon, and haddock. All I can say is try the mussels in Nova Scotia. I eat enough salmon back in Seattle, and any mussels I've ever had have been pretty mediocre up till this point.

Try the snow crab at the restaurant, absolutly delicious. I had to ask the waitress how to eat it, after being presented with surgical tools. Next day at Ingonish harbour saw some fishermen bringing in a catch of snow crab............their advice ..........just use your fingers! The Souwester by scottishvisitor The Souwester Restaurant has a nautical feel as you would expect given its location at Peggy's Cove, people come here by the bus load, so be prepared for lengthy queue. It offers a wide range of meals, snacks & drinks. There is also a great gift shop selling lots of seaside gifts.
With so much coastal water surrounding the area fresh seafood is the natural choice. We had the Atlantic planked salmon smoothered in maple syrup followed by Cows Icecream. Captains Cabin Restaurant by RWFAN This definantly has a small town feel to it. They had a few different types of food and are advertised as specializing in Steak and Seafood. The staff was friendly and helpful when we weren't sure what to order!
Won Ton Scallops! They were perfect for us because we aren't big seafood eaters but we wanted to try the scallops while in Digby. Leave a Comment Theme: SeafoodPrice: less than US$10 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: Water St., Digby, Nova ScotiaPhone: 902-245-4868

by easterntrekker Whenever we're hungry on a road trip we look for an Irving Big Stop. They have great things like home- made soup, hot turkey sandwiches, fish and chips...the typical diner stuff . There are quite a few of them around NS and they're uusually open late. Service is fast and friendly!!

In the small town of Berwick, Nova Scotia in the heart of the Annapolis Valley, we came across a fairly new restaurant. It's only been open a year and it's in a renovated old Victorian house on the main street in Berwick. It's got 3 or 4 small rooms with wooden tables and chairs. Diamond stained glass in the windows, antique lamps, a lovely mirror covered in wrought iron, a fireplace with a painting of wine bottles over it. The bartender that served us was really friendly and the menu had enough on it to satisfy most. I didn't notice too many vegetarian options aside from the salads. We each had something different and really liked all of it.
I had the steak sandwich on a multi grain roll with cheese, horseradish mayo and lovely fresh veggies. The french fries are made of Yukon Gold potatoes and were quite possibly the best i've ever had. My mom had fresh cream of mushroom soup and a turkey salad sandwich on multi grain bread and my sister had chicken wings and fries. by frankcanfly Stop by the Royal Fundy Market for an inexpensive seafood sandwich......
But the best reason to stop here is to pick up some "Digby Chicks." They are actually smoked and dried local herring, they will keep 'fresh' for weeks. The name 'chicks' comes from the fact that this dish is all the town had for Christmas celebration during a poultry shortage one year. Leave a Comment

by tvor The Windjammer restaurant has been in place for decades. I haven't been there for over 20 years but I went recently and it's still as good as it ever was, possibly better. It's unassuming, but with nice tablecloth covered tables and wooden chairs. The menu has lots of fresh Nova Scotia seafood as well as other standards, burgers, soups, salads, sandwiches.
I had a cup of seafood chowder that was all fish, shrimp, lobster, scallop and cream. Not one potato in the bowl and it was heaven! They also make a mean strawberry milkshake! They have a takeout window as well if you want to pick something up for a picnic. by tvor Half way between the Nova Scotia border and Halifax is the town of Truro. A nice stopping point for a little shopping. The downtown core has some nice shops including Stanfield's underwear outlet and if you get hungry, go to Murphy's for a feed of fish and chips! They give huge portions and the staff are friendly as all get out. They have a full seafood menu including fish, scallops, clams and shrimp and you can also fill up on liver and onions, turkey dinner, steak, burgers, salads and sandwiches. They have lovely pies for desserts but you probably won't have room! Find it in the middle of a strip "mall" shopping center in the middle of the town by the railway station. outside Baddeck by easterntrekker If you just want a quick bite, Tim Horton' s coffee shops are everywhere. They are fast , cheap and the sanwiches , soups and chili are really good. Everyone in Canada will think its crazy to even mention them as a tip...they are so well known ...but maybe from other places you wouldn't know about them.
