It's charming, the people are friendly; lots of small shops on the mainstreet so you can go window-shopping; lots of good places to eat
More great stores like Marshalls needed.
Go shopping at Marshalls then go to Groundswell for a smoothie!
I had heard of the restaurant from cousins who live in the area, but just recently had the opportunity to try it out. Next door to a chain restaurant (East Side Marios), at the far west end (appropriately) of a strip of stores.
We arrived at the end of the lunch hour peak, so had good service, a choice of tables, and found ourselves not rushed.
Favorite Dish: I had a tuna melt - lots of cheddar, over the tuna salad, and on the other slice of texas toast. Nice to have it as a sandwich, and not just on a slice of french bread. The fries were a little overcooked, but good. There is also a choice of soup, or salad (for a bit extra). My friend had the clubhouse sandwich which she said was good, except she would have preferred "real" turkey or chicken meat rather than the pressed slices.
However the desserts were wonderful. We split a caramel/mocha cheesecake and a Baileys Irish Cream cheesecake - and they were both excellent. I think that the caramel won the day, though.
The food at the Nottawasauga Inn is excellent. Great lunch time buffets - you'll see business men & women enjoying it, and tables of people coming from not only Alliston, but even down from Barrie, and from other communities, to enjoy the lunchtime buffets. I believe Saturday night and Sunday nights they have buffets as well as the marvellous Sunday brunch spread.
It is nice to look out over the golf course, and the pond and gazebo.
(You'll see this same paragraph in my hotel review... sorry, I'm not original)
Favorite Dish: The Buffet has a good variety, whether it is the brunch (breakfast-lunch) on Sunday, the weekday lunchtime buffet, or the weekend dinner Buffet.
They offer a good salad bar, and great roasts.

Its a cool trendy 2 story store in the middle of Alliston. You would think this store should be in Yorkville, you know it's not when you meet the people. The staff their are so helpful and nice. I was looking for the right jeans and they found them for me.
What to buy: Jeans, jeans and more jeans. They also have great brand like Roxy, Quiksilver, Volcom, Guess. They have Columbia Sportswear and Sierra Designs. If you are looking for any clothes the staff know what they are talking about and the customer service is awesome.
They have Juicy Couture and Sevens Jeans. But the cool thing is everybody can shop their even for stuff like Mexx and Esprit. Its a store everybody can find something. My whole family shops at Marshalls.
What to pay: The clothes are quaility and the stuff lasts. You get what you pay for.
