Morning visitor
  • Tip Rating:
  • My Wife had a visitor this morning, it was a Peregrine Falcon . I am not sure what kind it is I have not seen one, this color before. To be honest I have not seen one this close to city.
They usually stay out in the country. And those one are mostly brown and white.

The area we live is great for bird watching there are many different kinds of birds

    King's Navy Yard Park
  • Tip Rating:
  • After the War of 1812, the "Yard" was retained by Fort Malden until 1859 when the military vacated Amherstburg. A variety of enterprise, both municipal and commercial, occupied the Yard and the river frontage immediately south for over 100 years. Amherstburg gradually acquired the properties permitting planning of the present park to begin in 1975

Architect: British Navy and Military Establishment
Year Built: Dockyard and Ship Building 1796, Present Park 1980

    Dalhousie Street, Amherstburg

    The Detroit River
  • Tip Rating:
  • The Detroit River is about 51 km (32 miles) long and 1 to 4 km (0.5 to 2.5 miles) wide in the Great Lakes system

The name comes from French Rivière du Détroit, i.e. "River of the Strait". The name is a reference to the fact that the river connects Lake St. Clair to Lake Erie. However, it is not a strait by definition. The boundary between Canada and the United States of America passes through the river lengthwise. Its elevation is 175 meters (579 feet) above sea level.

    Halloween
  • Tip Rating:
  • Halloween is an observance celebrated on the night of October 31, most notably by children dressing in costumes and going door-to-door collecting sweets or money. The term Halloween comes from hallow and eve, as it is the evening before "All Hallows Day".

Halloween's theme is spooky or scary things particularly involving death, magic, or mythical monsters. Commonly-associated Halloween characters include ghosts, ghouls, witches, bats, black cats, owls, spiders, goblins, zombies, skeletons and demons, as well as certain fictional figures like Dracula and Frankenstein's monster. Homes are often decorated with these symbols around Halloween.

Black and orange are the traditional colors of Halloween. In modern Halloween images and products, purple, green, and red are also prominent.

Elements of the autumn season, such as pumpkins and scarecrows, are also reflected in symbols of Halloween

The Tecumseh Stone at Ft. Malden
The story goes that the great Indian leader (a chief of the Shwanee) stood atop this stone as he addressed his followers as they prepared to battle the invading American forces.
