The typical Canadian thing to do is to have a rink in the back yard. It can be a lot of work, putting up the boards, flooding the area, and then maintaining it - shovelling off the snow. However, some people only have to shovel off a skating area on the ice in front of their home on the bay.
In backyard - need someone who knows how to do it -I know you need boards to set the area, but not sure exactly how it gets flooded. Then you need the shovel to keep the snow off it, and the ice smooth. Don't forget your skates, and if it is for hockey, the net, sticks, and puck, and pads. Recommend a helmet too If you do it like these people do in the picture - you just need to keep shoveling off the snow, and I guess trying to keep the ice smooth by flooding it. The City Marina Park is just that - a Marina. I suspect that many of those who have boats here live in the new condos not far from the marina. Nevertheless, if you have a boat you might consider using it. I'm not sure, but it may also be possible to rent a boat here if you have your license handy.

On a crisp winter day, take your skates to City Hall and go skating. Sometimes, skaters from the Mariposa Skating Club, or some of the other figure skating clubs will perform, allowing you to see the local talent, or some of the up and coming international skaters who are training in Barrie.
Warm clothes, but not too warm that when you get moving you don't feel too uncomfortable. Ice skates properly fastened, and mitts or gloves. A hat is a good idea too, to keep from losing too much body heat. Leave a Comment Theme: OtherAddress: Collier Street at MulcasterDirections: North-west corner of Collier & Mulcaster Street.
