I should have liked the Blackshop. Let me correct that, I do like the Blackshop, really, but I ordered the wrong lunch item. This restaurant is one of the few good things about Galt. The interior is warm, artwork is generously displayed and the staff is marvelous. It's just that I was in such a mood for bouillabaisse, and even though I was told of its contents, I still ordered it. To be fair, I can't get over the taste of marlin. It's a funny fish to prepare. I've always found it to taste like "it's about to spoil" with notes of five day old garbage. Combine this with the earthy taste of catfish (the other main fish in this bouillabaisse) and you have a recipe for failure. I should have ordered the salmon with roasted shallot sauce my dining partner enjoyed. The red wine list is definitely more extensive than anywhere else in the area and offers a spectrum of prices but it contains the usual suspects: Wolf Blass, Masi, Penfolds, Chianti Classico Volpaia, Henry of Pelham...nothing daring. Comfortable consumer names I suppose. I'll have to return for dinner to give a more fair assessment of the food.
Note: the 'more expensive than average' comparative price is just that - in comparison to other establishments in the area. Leave a Comment

Calling this a coffee house is only partially right - there is far more than just coffee served here. They have hot food (like quiches, lasagna, soup, chilie), salads, and sandwiches/wraps, and some great desserts. If you have ordered a meal, they give you a number and they will deliver it to your table. There are William's CoffeePubs in several cities.
I love love love their California mix salad! You can get it separate or as a side-salad. Nice mandarin orange segments and almonds in it and a sweet tangy dressing. I've had their cheese/broccoli quiche and it is terrific. The combination also is served with lovely garlic bread... mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm The capucchino is good too - the medium is pretty big. oh yeah... and their keylime cheesecake. hmmmm you know, I've not had anything I didn't like.
