    Christmas Magic in the Park

    by cheryl_mcleod21 Updated Apr 4, 2011
Christmas Magic in the Park 2003

As I mentioned in my introduction to Cobourg, Christmas Magic is an annual event and takes place in Victoria Park, Cobourg’s lakefront and beach park. Every year there is a different theme and the whole park is decorated in Christmas Lights. It is so beautiful to see especially on clear winter nights. The band shell is always the most decorated it has different scenery in it that is theme related. See my travelogue on Christmas Magic for more pictures. In 2004 Christmas Magic will be open November 26th to January 1st. Also on the first Friday night that the lights are open there is a lighting ceremony. Everyone meets at Victoria Hall, which is on the main street, and there are carol sings there and everyone gets a lit candle. After the festivities at the hall are over, everyone follows a local youth choir singing Christmas carols down to Victoria Park. At the park there are more events, singers etc., and then a countdown to the lights. After the lights are on there is more music and Santa is there for kids to visit. It’s lots of fun and I would definitely recommend it if you are in the area at the time.

The Waterfront Festival is held July 1st - July 4th and is one of Cobourg's largest events every year. Each year Victoria Park and the Waterfront is turned into one of the largest annual outdoor art and craft shows in Canada, with rides, food, entertainment in the bandshell and all. Over 70,000 visitors attend this festival each year!

    Biggest Event In Cobourg

    by M_Cherry Written Feb 9, 2004

If you are going to travel to Cobourg at any time of year you should come at the beginning of July where we hold our annual Waterfront Festival. There are things to do for everyone. There are many tents filled with local art, a midway with rides, little vendors where you can buy clothing or things to eat. And on July 1 we have a firework display. You shouldnt miss it. If you're coming from the states or anywhere in the area you can drive your boat and park it in the harbour for the weekend.

    The Waterfront Festival

    by Nick_Murchie Written Feb 9, 2004

During the waterfront festival in July, Cobourg is very alive. There are thousands of people at the waterfront and there is always something going on down there. There is a theme park/carnival on the pear, where people can go to play games or go on rides. Then there is also live music at the bandshell in Victoria Park. Also in Victoria Park, there are many small shops set up where people can buy cool stuff.

    The Snowbirds!

The Waterfront Festival is an annual event that takes place down on the beach, and draws in probably more tourists than any other time of the year. Whatever you're looking for, its probably there. Enjoy life musical performances, amusement park style rides, art shows, its all there. There are often fireworks, and an appearance by the Snowbirds! I recommend coming because there is something for everybody here, and you're bound to have a good time.

    A Romantic Walk

    The beautiful Lake Ontario.

In the summer a thing you need to do in Conourg is take a walk along the beach and then get ice cream. In the winter you can still take a walk along the beach and then go to the Human Bean for a cup of hot chocolate and sit by the fire.

*If you ever come to Cobourg Down town is a must see! Town hall is a historic building it is simply amazing with it's very own ball room and court house many prestige plays are put on here.
*Artfully yours is a unique little art shop with modern arts that would suit creative peoples fancys. The country pumpkin and heat of the village stores are more wood crafts and suit county folk style.
*The Human bean is a very neet cafe some times they have special guests that preform musiclly. Its a great place to unwind because of it cozy atmosphere.

    Waterfront Festival

    Poster for the Festival

The cobourg waterfront festival runs for a week before Canada day every year. The festival is all about having fun and giving small stored a chance to show their stuff to many out of towners. Tents are set up all along the harbour front and rides on the pier. The festival is one of the best in ontario in mine and many other people's oppinion. This is a must see event if you are looking for somewhere to have fun and meet new people.

    dragon boat races

    by James_F Written Sep 10, 2003

every year, our town hosts old fasshion dragon boat races. large, long old wooden boas filled with 30 people paddle down a course and back home.

will it sink, or barely make it in time for the students (who get community service hours for it) to jump in and bail out the boat(s)!

it's almost that time of year again so keep an eye out on the news.

  • The Downtown Harbour

The Harbour while Waterfront Festival is going on.

It's a beautiful harbour and is our main attraction for tourist to come down and see. It has a light house, a boardwalk and bunch of sail boats you can see. Even though Lake Ontario isn't so clean it makes our town harbour look really nice. At night most people sit in their cars and watch the sky and the scenary. Also at the start of July every year we have our Annual Waterfront Festival. We have rides, crafts, art and a whole bunch of fun stuff.
