Daniel's is one of the hidden jems of town of King, north of Toronto. Just a 20 minute drive north of Toronto (well it depends upon where in Toronto you're coming from, which highway route, and how the traffic is). The food is, I suppose, "continental"... with a gourmet twist, but yet very reasonable compared to its big city counterparts. You can always be certain of some great lamb, pork, beef and chicken in recognizable servings... but be prepared for the unexpected. They have wonderful soups and salads as well... and well, the deserts are terrific if you save room for them. I have always been there with my cousins who are regulars and friends of the staff, so have found it to be a very friendly and relaxed, never rushed, service. There are a number of Jazz concert evenings in the summer, held in the "back yard", under tents, and with reasonably priced summertime food. Throughout the year there are wine tastings evenings, mixing wines of the world with gourmet foods. Other special events and musical evenings take place throughout the year as well.
I have always enjoyed the lamb or pork dishes. Lovely sauces, and properly cooked vegetables with them. I've actually never encountered anything I didn't like.
