Favorite thing: I found Wasa bread in a small shop in Wolfe Island...definitely did not expect seeing it there. I didn't even think that bread was available outside of Scandinavia (maybe at an Ikea shop), to be honest, but it made me smile.
Favorite thing:
- The first thing to remember is there are over 1800 islands.
- The next thing to remember is that almost anytime of year is the right time to visit the islands.
- The cruise lines that sail the islands offer a full range of cruises from sightseeing to dinner cruises. They sail from Kingston, Gananoque, Brockville, Rockport and others.
Fondest memory:
Boldt Castle, a rineland Castle built by the then owner of the Waldorf Astoria in NYC and rumour has it the site of the invention of 1000 islands dressing.
Favorite thing:
Take a cruise around the 1000 Islands. There are many different boat charter companies in Kingston and the surrounding towns and they are the main attraction of the area.
Fondest memory:
Kingston is in a beautiful part of Ontario and part of the geological area called the Canadian Shield. I love driving out that way and just wandering around seeing the scenery. It's especially lovely in the fall/autumn when the leaves are changing colour.
Fondest memory: Two small islets are connecting by a bridge and renown as the shortest international bridge because these islets belong to US and Canada respectively.
Favorite thing: Board one of these boats and see the Thousand Islands. On the day we visited it the boat was not crowded. A lot of seats were empty and lot of rooms to move around.
