The Toucan is a great Irish pub in Kingston and offers a bit of everything for everyone!
First, the bartender knows how to pour a Guiness.
Also, the atmosphere is really nice. On the top floors, you can relax, eat and chat without being overcomed by noise. But in the basement, they have live music, dart boards and it's more of a bar compared to upstrairs wich is more a restaurant.
Also, the men's bathrooms are covered with funny newpaper clips..just thought it was cool.
:)
Favorite Dish:
Well..Guiness of course!
The Toucan & Kirkpatrick's Irish Pub
is one of the coolest bar/restaurants in the city. It is strategically located on the main drag, Princess Street, and is full of life. It's a little smoky for those of us who don't smoke, but it's too fun to miss.
There is a main meeting area on the first level, with a more crowded group as you head down a few stairs towards the rear, which also opens onto the outdoor patio in better weather. It's a rockin' place, so go there if you're up for a very good time socializing with a Friday night crowd.

Once again, I have to use web pics to show you, and this warm weather pictured here is definitely NOT the way I experienced Kingston. Note that you can have a GREAT time in Cold weather while there, so imagine how lively this place must be in spring.
Smithwick's Ale. Ask the bartender to make your Black and Tan using Smithwick's rather than Harp. The Harp has a bitters edge, where the Smitwick's is smooth and a little sweet.
