The Heritage village

The Heritage village, Kingsville

kris-t Says:  The Heritage Village in Kingsville, Ontario features over 20 building of local significance collection of heritage buildings from the late 1700s up to the late 1920s: a one room schoolhouse, general store, barbershop, train station and numerous log homes. All buildings have...

Other Wineries

Other Wineries, Kingsville

Babzz Says:  It seems Essex County is becoming the new Niagara. Since 2005, a number of new wineries have established themselves in the region. We only had the opportunity to visit two new ones, but here's a list of all the wineries in the region to date (2006):1. D'Angelo Estate...

Jack Miner Bird Sanctuary

Jack Miner Bird Sanctuary, Kingsville

Babzz Says:  Jack Miner established his bird sanctuary in 1904. The hunter-turned-naturalist decided it was time to stop the killing and take action for wildlife. He brought home seven Canada geese to live in his pond with the hopes that others would soon join them. At first, it was a...

Aleksander Estate Winery

Aleksander Estate Winery, Kingsville

Babzz Says:  A recent addition to the Southwestern Ontario wine route, Aleksander Estate Winery is a family-run winery with the intention of keeping it small. Their wines are locally grown on 5 acres of vineyards. Their selection of wines include the classics, as well as a Chambourcin...

Lakeside Park

Lakeside Park, Kingsville

Babzz Says:  This is a nice park by the beach to go for a stroll in, play sports, or take the kids to. We took a much needed stroll through following a hefty dinner!

Mastronardi Estate Winery

Mastronardi Estate Winery, Kingsville

Babzz Says:  A new addition to the growing Southwestern Ontario wine region, Mastronardi Estate Winery sits on 100 acres of vineyards previously owned by Colio Estate Wines Inc. The winery is owned by a young, presumably Italian couple. We had our wine tasting with the wife, and she was...

Pelee Island Winery

Pelee Island Winery, Kingsville

Babzz Says:  Pelee Island Winery was established in 1979 and is the biggest winery in the region (Essex County). The main headquarters of Pelee Island Winery are in Kingsville. Most of the grapes are grown on Pelee Island, but are then brought over to be processed on the mainland. The...

Bessie's Bed & Breakfast: Great Value B&B

Bessie's Bed & Breakfast: Great Value B&B, Kingsville

Babzz Says:  Our stay here was truly wonderful. Jacqueline and Hank were super-friendly hosts and we had some nice chats with them. Having lived here for 40 years, they are very knowledgeable about the area. They provided us with information on what to do, where to eat, etc., as well as...

Restaurants

Victorian Rose Tea Room: Average Meal

Victorian Rose Tea Room: Average Meal, Kingsville

Babzz Says:  Our meals were mediocre. The restaurant is cheaper than average and we got what we paid for. They only offered the cheap table wine from Pelee Winery so we had water instead. The side vegetables were fresh at least, but I could make a better dish at home myself. We heard the...

Vintage Goose: Cosy place

Vintage Goose: Cosy place, Kingsville

kris-t Says:  The Vintage Goose Restaurant proudly resides in one of Kingsville's oldest buildings. Twenty-four Main Street West dates back to the early 1850's when it housed the towns' General Hardware Store. In October of 1995 it was restored to all it's original splendor to accommodate...

Pelee Island Ferry

Babzz 370 reviews

Ferries depart from Leamington or Kingsville to Pelee Island depending on the time of year. Cars can be taken on board and are recommended because there is no public transportation available on Pelee Island. Reservations are required if you are taking your car and you must be at the dock an hour prior to departure. Walk-on passengers should be there 1/2 hour before, but reservations are not required.
