    Woodland Garden

by janika Updated Apr 4, 2011

Woodland Garden is a place where locals go on nice days and weekends to enjoy nature, walk, bike, rollerblade or jog. The garden is full of flower-beds, big trees and artistically landscaped terrain. All this by the river and close to the Guy Lombardo museum. A good spot to meet other people, especially locals.

    Remember the Military Past

by CdnJane Updated May 22, 2006

In Victoria Park you will find the War Memorial, a tank, and some information on the British Military in that part of the country.
There is a wonderful memorial in memory of the women killed in the Montreal Massacre, Dec 4, 1989... may such a tragedy never happen on another university campus, in Canada or anywhere.

London Country Jam - great music

by CdnJane Updated May 29, 2004

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Not just where to put this ... it happens over a whole weekend, and during the day not just the night so not a Nightlife tip... so here we go in here.
I've only been to the first of the London Country Jam weekends, but there has been at least one other one... and likely another this year too.
The Country Jam is sponsored by the local country music station and showcases mostly Canadian country musicians, and earlier each day, some local talent. It's a reasonable entrance fare for a couple of days of good acts.
Held downtown in one of the parking lots - think this past year it was the parking lot of the John Labatt Centre.

    A Winery & Country Market

by CdnJane Written Oct 26, 2003

Being the organiser of a mini-meeting, I didn't want us to just drive a couple of hours, eat, talk and then turn around and go home. So, I found, not too far from our restaurant, a Winery - mostly producing fruit wines - which also had a country market.
Bellamere had a great selection of wines to taste - raspberry nectar, pear wine, strawberry, amongst other fruit wines, and then several "regular" grape based wines, and also some non-alcoholic sparkling apple ciders, and mixed juice beverages.
We never did get upstairs in the Country Market... the main floor provided lots to buy - including the pumpkins I needed for work. There were a great selection of cheeses, including some Dutch cheeses - Edam, Gouda and a Leddersomethingorother! Jacob found a dutch treat he enjoyed - there were meats - bakery items - lots of vegetables - beverages... a huge selection of items.
This is located out on Gainsborough Road, past the community of Hyde Park.

A whole lot of golf courses to...

by mizgoldie Written Aug 25, 2002

    1.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

A whole lot of golf courses to visit in the London and surrounding areas. My favorite is Echo Valley just minutes west of London, off of highway # 2. Courses vary, from private to public. The nicest time to golf is in the fall when the leaves are turning, but it can be difficult to find your ball because of the falling leaves! lol
