Though New Toronto is located in the far south-west end of the city, it really isn't a hard place to get to. If you are located close to the Danforth-Bloor subway line you can take it straight to the end (Kipling Station) and catch the 44 Kipling South which will let you off right at the corner of Kipling and Lakeshore. From there you want to walk West and you'll hit the little hidden gems we've become so found of.
If you're further south in the City it's easy to take the Queen Streetcar (501). It takes a little longer, but there are so many places to get off and explore along Queen West, that it would be a fun day trip exploring Queen West and finishing the day off with a lovely dinner at Pulcinella (see my restaurant reviews).

If visiting take a bus/taxi from the airport to downtown. Do not rent a car. Driving in toronto will get you into an accident and parking is realllllly expensive. Also if you do decide to get a car only park where it is allowed since you will get a ticket otherwise!!!!...On hwys do not speed..limit is 120....
A car is good to get if you decide to go up north!!!

Toronto has a great transit system. Cheap and safe. Between the subway, streetcars and buses and commuter trains you really can go anywhere you need to go. You can even call them for directions from where you are at to where you want to go.
