    No One Does it Better...

Favorite thing: I think there is nothing that quite prepares you for the visual effects you are about to encounter as you visit Niagara Falls... Ok, maybe you have been fortunate enough to have traveled the world and viewed the Victoria Falls or some secluded never-before-seen-by-human-eyes falls in the midst of the Amazon, but for most of us this is an amazing sight to behold! And as I haven't viewed those other places, this one is so awesome to see! If you are anywhere close to this area, you simply MUST make an effort to see this! You won't be disappointed! You can thank me later... send money!

Fondest memory: I was very lucky to have visited Niagara Falls on a beautiful, sunny day and accompanied by a most kind companion! Combined with the stimulating visuals provided by this natural wonder, it was nice to be able to share the experience with a new friend, old friend. And to the nice person out there who leaves a solitary rating on the pages where I may happen to mention that this would be a great, romantic place to visit with a special someone... Here's another one! Rate Away!

    American Falls from Canada
    1 more image

Favorite thing: Other people have mentioned this and so I will simply reiterate it here. If you are visiting the falls from the US side it is well worth the visit over the bridge to see the falls from the Canadian side. These are definitely the best views of both The American Falls and The Horseshoe Falls.

Whether on foot or driving the immigration procedures on both sides are simplicity itself especially if you have your passport stamped that same day. From what I gather US citizens don't even need a passport, a driving license is sufficient.

There is a small border charge which I think was $2 for a car and 50 cents on foot.

    Dollars to Loonies Exchange

by miwhi Written Oct 11, 2008 10 reviews

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Favorite thing: We just returned from Niagara Falls Canada, had a wonderful time and learned a few things.
It isn’t necessary to exchange your USA dollars for Canadian dollars as we didn’t find a single business that wouldn’t take USA dollars for par (1$ to 1$), but be warned you only receive your change in Canadian currency. This is not a problem except on the day you are heading Home and don’t want to get stuck with a bunch of Canadian dollars and change.
We found the best and friendliest place to exchange currencies USA to Canadian and visa versa was at Casino Niagara’s cashier’s booth, it was fast, friendly and there was no pressure to gamble if you didn’t want to.

Fondest memory: Seeing the Falls lit up at night on the Canadian side is a memory fo a lifetime.

    The Walk Down the Road

A Close Up of The Main Horseshoe Falls

Favorite thing: I walked from the Bus Depot in order to get to the Falls. You could catch the bus shuttle, but the walk is worth it. It is a fair distance, but you do not notice it - You are walking along a river, which, in its own right, has some stunning vistas.
And then you feel the spray. The atmosphere just feels a little moist. Then you hear the falls dully in the distance. You begin to feel the anticipation build up - Niagara could not be very far away! Wrong - It is still a half hour walk yet and you have yet to glimpse it!
Then you get your first view of the Falls. 'Impressive' you think to yourself. Only a little walk later do you then realise that you are viewing the smaller of the two falls and the Horseshoe reveals itself to you. That is when you get the smile from ear to ear and you realise just how hollow the first 'impressive' sounded...

Fondest memory: My travel companion, Jeff, left a friend of his in the shadow of the Pretronous Towers, to travel west around the World. Dave, the friend went east. Without knowing it, just walking down the road, they bumped into one another. Small World, eh...?

    The falls

Favorite thing: My favorite part was being as close to the falls as I could be. Go onto the island separating the falls on the American side. You can see the falls from above for both the american and canadian falls.

Rainbow Bridge - the bridge between two countries

    Bridge between USA and Canada

Favorite thing: The first impressive thing for me was the bridge between USA and Canada. In seconds you go to another country, of course, if you have appropriate papers. I think the surprise I have about it is due to my origin country - Ukraine, from where to get somewhere you have to go through tiresome and exhausting customs and check points.

BEST VIEW OF THE FALLS AND IT"S FREE

Favorite thing: On the night of June 8 ,2004 the new Niagara Casino officially opened . It is open for operation June 10, 2004.

This is a Casino with a view , on the edge of the cliff overlooking the Horseshoe Falls. You can enter the casino for free and the back of the Casino at the edge of the cliff is public space .

The gameing area is like any other casino , but this casino has "location" .

Favorite thing: Niagara Falls is probably the most visited tourist spot in Canada. Everyone has either seen it or heard about it. Whenever we have someone visiting we take them to see this famous spot.

Fondest memory: I believe I was 5 when we first went here. My grandparents were visiting from England and I can still remember seeing the Falls for the first time. They are quite an impressive sight. I also remember that it had recently rained and my parents wouldn't let us on the grass as it was so muddy!

That's me showing off my flowered panties, a word of advice, don't wear a skirt here!

    Facts about Niagara Falls

    Niagara Falls

Favorite thing: 1. Less than 10% of the water flows over the American Falls with the balance flowing over the Horseshoe Falls. It is the massive volume of water that flows over the Horseshoe Falls that gives it its green color.

    2. The American Falls is 180 feet (55 meters) high. Its brink is 1,100 feet (330 meters) long. From the Falls, the water travels down the Niagara River to Lake Ontario, then to the St. Lawrence Seaway and finally to the Atlantic Ocean.

    3. The Canadian Horseshoe Falls is 170 feet (52 meters) high. Its brink measures 2,500 feet (750 meters).

    4. Originally, 202,000 cubic feet per second (6060 cubic meters) or 5.5 billion gallons (2.09 trillion liters) per hour of water flowed over Niagara Falls; now, however, half of this water is diverted for power by the United States and Canada.

    Modern Niagara

On the night street in Niagara Falls

Favorite thing: When I heard about Niagara Falls I imagine something wild - dense forest, wild animals and the roar of the falls. Well, it is never bad to imagine the places I never saw, but there is no guarantee that the place is what you think it is. That was proved by my first travel to Niagara Falls. It occured that Niagara Falls is a busy town full of tourists of all ages, nationalities, interests etc. Of course it is nice to be in mordern world with its conviniences, but I think in Niagara Falls it is too much. It is too comercialized, damn it.
