We booked dinner at the tower and it was well worth the money. The food, service and view was great. We did the buffet which is just 1 level above the revolvong dinning room and were not disappointed at all. After dinner you can go up to the observation tower for free and the views 360 degrees are outstanding, you can see all the way up to Lake Ontario. Everyone here was very nice and very helpful. it was clean, even the rest rooms. We would highly suggest this for a romantic dinner.
The food at the Skylon was like the food at a bad wedding reception. Started off with OK bread, moved on to a mediocre salad, the your choice of Prime Rib, chicken or fish..then wrapped up with some chocolate moose. Blech. The View IS fantastic though. The rotating resturant takes about an hour to take you all the way around. Usually your just getting the check when you've completed a turn. Genius planning really.
The place is expensive! Save some bucks and go for the early bird special. Or better still save more bucks and just visit the observation deck. grab dinner someplace else entirely
This was a great evening for our last night there. The dining room is revolving, one complete rotation every hour. You're 775 feet above the falls and city, good food for lunch or dinner. At night, of course, is beautiful. We managed to get seated by sunset, so we had the best of both worlds... a daylight view, then a view of the city lights and intense colors of the lit up falls.
skylon tower
This is a rotating restaurant on the Canadian side of the falls. It is at the top of the Canadian observation tower. You must make reservations in advance. The restaurant actually slowly rotates and you can see the falls all lit up at night. The food is good too, buffet for the most part.
This was a memorable dining experience. The view was outstanding and a great way to see the falls. We didn't have the pleasure of having a hotel room with a view so this was the next best thing. But be forewarned, this view comes with a great price! The menu was in the "most expensive " range. A steak and lobster dinner went for $75, and a dinner off of the kids menu was $17. Yes, that was chicken fingers and fries as well as for prime rib! We ended up with a $275/CDN bill (about $250/US), this is without the wine and for a family of 3.
The service was superb though. We didn't have a reservation (we were asked if we had one), but they accomodated us immediately. We took the elavator all the way up and were seated promptly. We dressed very casually (shorts and t-shirts) but they didn't seem to have a dress code, although for those prices you would expect it. But this is a tourist town so we were okay.
Favorite Dish:
I had the filet minon which was very good, myu husband had a New York strip that was tasty too. My son had the kids prime rib that he enjoyed very much.
Steak, salads, soups, various chicken dishes, fish...I had Chicken Cordon Bleu and it was good. The thing about this restaurant which makes it different is that you have to go up the exterior elevator to reach the restaurant. If you are afraid of heights, don't stand near the window - once we were near the top, I had to look away! The restaurant rotatates slowly, so you can have a view of the Falls, which is lit with colors at night.
Favorite Dish:
I have only been there once, and it was not the greatest meal in the world, but it really was tasty enough. Chicken Cordon Bleu is fine, and everyone else at the table seemed to like whatever they ordered.
There really isn't a bad seat in the house. The restaurant revolves so that while you are dining you can view Niagara Falls and the surrounding area. The wait staff was very friendly and the food was good. Be sure to check out the observation deck after dining.
We didn't eat here but we sat out on the deck and had a few (probably too many) drinks. It was great because it's right on the Falls walk. Althought we didn't eat- the food looked and smelled really good.
This isn't like a night club or anything. It's just a place to kick back and take everything in. The waiter- and the rest of the staff- was very nice.
This is a revolving restaurant and for that reason it is a neat place to eat. However, the price is very high for blah food and the service is indifferent. Such a shame that attractions that have something special to offer rarely provide their best at what they are meant to do.
For those with a taste for the extraordinary Skylon's Revolving Dining Room simply must be experienced. The award winning continental cuisine is presented in an elegant setting 775 ft. above the Falls. Lunch or dinner, the menu is rivalled only by the view, which you can appreciate at leisure (one rotation per hour). Dine by night and you'll discover the unique atmosphere created by the illumination of the Falls.
