    Tacky Tourism on Clifton Hill

    CLIFTON HILL SIGN MADNESS

Love it, hate it, or love to hate it. Clifton Hill is as tacky as it gets. Everywhere you turn somebody is selling something - a ride, a game, junk food. It seems the museums, haunted houses, and other attratctions here spend more money on their bigger than life exteriors than on the thing they're actually selling. I indulged one night and took my niece to a "4-D" movie. It was not as good as the 3-D movie I went to at my local Imax, but it was fun to participate in the insanity. The most interesting thing to me though was people watching and it was a good time just looking around at things. IF YOU TAKE KIDS HERE KEEP A CLOSE EYE ON THEM. It is very crowded at night and there are lots of distractions for little wandering eyes. In short, spend as little time here as you can... Unless you like this sort of thing!

    Clifton Hill

Clifton Hill is the most touristy street in Niagara Falls. Lining the street are all sorts of cheesy attractions, haunted houses, souvenier shops, Ripley's Believe it or Not, a Wax Museum (or 3). At night it's lit up like Times Square. There is nothing you need here but it is a place to get caught up in the excitement, or avoid like the plague. We wandered down it on the way to see the fireworks over the falls. On the way back up we stopped and played some cosmic blacklight mini golf. Good Times...

    Tourists Tourists Tourists

by Melann Written Feb 28, 2005

Clifton Hill was bustling even in the middle of winter with temps in the 20's. We have been there in Summer and it iis even busier. There are tons of restraunts, gift shops, upper end stores, and tourist stuff. We had a great time at Ripleys Moving Theatre, Ripleys Believe It or Not, The Hershey Store (YUM!!),and the Hard Rockl club (nightclub above the Hardrock Cafe).

    Niagara in the evening

In the evening this tourist area called 'Clifton Hill', is all bright and cheerful with lots of light. Many of the shops are open, so lots of opportunities to buy your souvenirs! There are quite a few people walking around, even on a cold winter's day in December. I don't dare to imagine how busy this area might be during the summertime.

    Hamburger Monster

Hahaha, this one kept me laughing for a couple of minutes: "The Hamburger Monster"! How do they think of it!!!! It didn't make me hungry though, just laugh like crazy, LOL :-)

This is the 'heart' of the tourist area. It is full with shops and tourist attraction. To get here just go to the American Falls, cross the street into the town of Niagara and you get to the 'super' tourist area :-)

    Tacky and touristy

    Clifton Hill at night

It is tacky and touristy with wax museums and souvenir shops, but it is all but unavoidable.

It is a great place to people watch, as they come from all over the world.

It does have excitement in the air (or maybe just the positive ions from the Falls)...

    Clifton Hill

If you want to take a break from fall-related activities, Clifton Hill is the place to go. There are lots of restaurants, night clubs, giftshops, amusement centers and other - sometimes bizarre - sorts of entertainment up and down the street. Children will have a blast! For my part, I had lots of fun just walking around, listening to (bad) karaoke singers and trying on funny hats in the giftshops!

    Cheesy Museums

    Movieland Museum of the Stars

Ok, they're all over Clifton Hill, so you'll have your pick of what museum tickles your fancy. My favorite was Ripley's Believe It or Not - probably because it was more interactive. Some of the museums are not worth the money, and only take about 10 minutes to go through. So pick wisely!!!

This is the street with all the amusements on it, like The Haunted House, Guinness World of Records and Mystery Maze. Visit the House of Frankenstein, where I was scared by Frankie as a child, he chased me and I went screaming out of the place!
Even the Burger King has a monster of top of it!

Food all day and all night long

And if you are hungry, you don't need to worry either. Restaurants like this are open 24/7. So even if you have a 'monster' appetite, you'll don't need to worry :-))
