If you get the chance you must venture away from the hotels into more that the area has to offer. Around 10 minutes drive you will be out of the hotels and into the countryside. This was what I hoped Niagara would be more like, nature trails and views of the canyon. The Niagara Glen is signposted with a car park lay by. Then head down a few! steps. There are a number of trails signposted. Easy to spend 1 to 3 hours here as long as you can make it down the steps.

I am a resident of Niagara Falls, and I truly believe the best way to experience the area, after seeing the Falls themselves, is to go to Niagara Glen. It is a nature park with trails going all the way down the gorge to the Niagara River. Once down there, you can see the whirlpool boats travelling along the river, and witness the raging river up close. It is absolutely beautiful and amazingly peaceful. We would advise anyone visiting the area to skip Clifton Hill, but DO NOT MISS the Niagara Glen. (The hike is a quite rigorous on the way back up the gorge, so make sure you're in good health and bring a lot of water).

There is a paved path on the Canadian side the length of the Niagara River...this includes the gorge section...take the people mover, walk or bike your way along and look over the edge....awesome scenery....various attractions and amenities spread throughout...nature rules though.
A couple of golf courses are on the edge as are walking trails down to rivers edge.
Take the spanish aero car acros the whirlpool (look down and youll see the Jet Boats)...go on great gorge adventure or simply peer over the edge. Visit the butterfly conservatory, sir adam beck power plant and queenston heights park....at the bottom of the hill visit laura secords house...$3.
Enough to spend the day no problem.

This peaceful retreat boasts nature trails, a specialty nature boutique, and a picnic area. Those who stop here and are prepared to do some hiking down the Gorge to the shore of the River will be well rewarded. The 4 kilometres (2 1/2 miles) of trails are well laid out and easily negotiated - if you take your time! There's lots of interesting geology and biology to explore. The Glen is a unique spot of beauty to the visitor.

From late July to September, a Park Naturalist conducts free guided nature walks through the Glen. Meet at Feather in the Glen for your guided tour.
    Start times begin at 10am, 12pm, 2pm, and 4pm.
