Welland Canals Centre, Niagara Falls
Spend an hour or two driving up and down the canal from Lake Ontario to Lake Erie. At various points along the route you can virtualy walk up to the ships and grab some great photos. The vessels are bigger than youd picture and is a nice little addition to a weekend in the falls. Best of all they are free to see. Note. Addmission into the St catharines museum a lock 3 will cost you 2 or 3 dollars.
The complex houses a tourist information and interpretive centre, the St. Catharines Historical Museum, the Ontario Lacrosse Hall of Fame, a restaurant, picnic areas, and free parking. Be sure to climb the special viewing platform where you can look down onto the decks of gigantic ships as they ponderously manoeuvre through the lock with only inches to spare.
