Photos on the Maid of the Mist
When taking a ride on the Maid of the Mist you will most definately get soaked. I saw some folks with some pretty wet digital cameras. Not the best idea if you ask me. We had brought along a little waterproof disposable camera. Another idea would be to get an underwater housing for your digital point and shoot.

Trying to stay dry
There are no two ways about it: Once you’re through the Maid of the Mist, the Journey Behind The Falls or just after a walk along the footpath, you *will* be drenched no matter how much protective rain gear – blue or yellow – you are given. You will be wet. Your gear will be wet. Worst of all: Your camera will be wet. There comes a point when you will need to make a judgement call and decide how far you are willing to test your equipment for a good shot. So at least be prepared and wipe your camera dry in regular intervals and – when not in use – store in waterproof (plastic) bags.
And, ladies: The day you’re visiting the Falls you do *not* want to be caught with just a braless white top on!

Where's the sun?
This doesn't qualify as a danger, but we found that photographing here was quite difficult. In the morning, when we were there, the sun was behind the falls, thereby making most shots of people in front of the falls very poor. I suppose later in the day was better, but we didn't stay that long.
If someone was a real pro, they might carry a piece of reflective material with them. Sadly, that wasn't us this day.
Wipe On...Wipe Off!! Water and Lenses Don't Mix!
Yes...I know! I should have known better! What could have been the perfect picture wound up being something not so perfect.
So heed my little warning...if you want your pictures to turn out well, bring something to wipe off the lens.
Barrel riding down the...
Barrel riding down the Niagara Falls is discouraged.
The spray from the Falls will blow onto the street and walkway.Take care to keep cameras and lenses dry.
