    Don't be a daredevil!

by Dabs Written Aug 11, 2010 3953 reviews

Over the years many many people have challenged Mother Nature, going over the Falls in barrels, kayaks, boats, walking over the Falls on a tightrope, accidentally getting too close and going over without a boat. Some of these people survived to tell the tale, many of them did not. I'm actually more surprised that more people don't try to do this

Although Clifton Hill and Ferry St. seem fabulously entertaining, full of friendly people, clubs, games and attractions for kids, and endless restaurants, many people don't realize that the tourist area in Niagara Falls is IN Downtown Niagara Falls.
    NOT SAFE AT NIGHT.
I've lived in the falls for 9 years, I've been stalked down there walking home from work, and many friends of mine have gotten into it with people on the streets down there.
It's best to avoid the area all together. Unfortunatly, it is in the center of the tourism area, so avoiding it can be difficult, but when you are out clubbing or hitting the bars, steer clear of any bars downtown, they're all very rough.
    stay safe people (:

    The Mist

by bocmaxima Written May 25, 2007 239 reviews

Not really safety, but, if the wind is blowing a certain way, it'll basically be raining on you at the Horseshoe Falls viewing point. You expect it on the tourist boat, but not above the falls. If you don't like getting wet, stay away from that spot when it's windy.

    Beware Of Big Drops

by Maeniel Written Mar 15, 2003 71 reviews

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

As you can see from the picture on the main page, there are precious few railings along the sides. If travelling with children, keep a careful eye out, as it is either a long way down or a short way into some very fast flowing water followed by a long drop over the falls - It all depends on where you go over the side, up or down river of the horseshoe and neither choice is good...

    waterfall means wet.

by melancholia Updated Jan 18, 2003 35 reviews

be aware that when you stand looking at the waterfalls & it's windy (perhaps even if it's not) you'll get a bit damp from the mist/spray from the waterfall..a light raincoat might be helpful if this is a problem for you.
