"Wine is a living liquid containing no preservatives.
Its life cycle comprises youth, maturity, old age, and death.
When not treated with reasonable respect it will sicken and die." - Julia Childs

i as one who enjoys wines,
not a geekisk oenophile nor connoiseur,
but prefers the smaller wineries where i meet the maker or owner
also where fewer busloads of time strapped tourist
are looked after by evenly uniformed staff
neither a snob nor reverse snob

Parking?

Niagara-on-the-Lake has kept its small town charm, one way, is by not having much parking. Since it is small, if you plan on walking around the streets, get their early. Most of the parking right next to the shops is about $1.50/hr. However, as we walked around, we found lots of parking on the side streets, just minutes away from downtown, where parking was free. There were clearly marked spots and no pay meters anywhere in site.

We got there at about 9:15 or so and we parked right next to the shops. By noon the streets were packed with people looking for spots. Granted it was the Peach Festival going on but it may be like that on weekends in the summer months.

There's a parking map on the website for the town, listed below. There is a cemetary where Bryon Street goes between two parts of that cemetary. On one side of the cemetary is Queen St/Niagara Parkway where all the shops are. There is a lot of parking next to the cemetary on Bryon Street, less than 5 minute walk to downtown.

The Cops!

As always, behave yourself and you won't get in any trouble. We are not from this country so I would not want to see what their jails are like from the inside that is, unless it's a guided tour. Not sure how hard it would be to make bail, and I don't want to find out, you know!
