Oshawa is a nice town to visit that is close to Toronto. While in the city, this is a beautiful park to walk and escape the town. It has a beautiful river and worth the visit.

Feeding the Siberian Tiger turned out to be a major attraction for visitors. The keeper answered many questions, especially from the curious children. The way tiger pounced on meat showed how powerful the creature is.
We visited the lions section via an overhead bridge. The lions section is located on the farthest side of the park and entails quite a bit of hiking. You are surely going to run into a small terrier whose job seems to be to keep pests running for their lives.
The lions seemed to be stalking some unseen prey and we could not find out who they were stalking. Then it suddenly dawned upon us. They had a narrow view of farm cows in a distant enclosure (picture # 2). The sight was terrifying to see the least.

ANIMATHEATRE is all about educating the audience about Baboons, pythons, and Bahgera the Leopard (see the picture that is slightly blur due to darkness).
The queue to enter was quite long, but effort was worth it (picture # 2). The Theatre was jam packed with visitors.
Here we had our first look at some animal actors too (see pictures).

We visited the zoo on a hot and humid day. The zoo sprawls over 42 scenic acres of natural parkland. Bowmanville Zoo is Canada's oldest privately owned zoo.
We liked the zoo, because it is very family friendly where children and adults alike can learn about the animals in unique and entertaining ways, particularly through first-hand experience. We particiapted in the following activities:
1. Photos with Lemuhrs
2. Feeding of the Siberian Tiger
3. Feeding the farm animals ourselves
4. Educational program in the indoor 400 seat ANIMATHEATRE that featured presentations at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

In 1961, a group of Oshawa businessmen wisely decided to create the Canadian Automotive Museum.
The venture was initiated mainly to preserve the automotive history of Canada and to present this history in an educational and entertaining manner.
The Canadian Automotive Museum has grown in the size of the collection and in the scope of the artifacts displayed. Motorcycles, bicycles, trucks, pianos, washing machines, etc., make up the collection today.
Of course, the automobile is the backbone of the collection. Currently, approximately 65 vehicles dating from 1898 to 1981 are on display.
Through marquees such as Brooks Steam, Redpath, Tudhope, McKay, Galt Gas-Electric, Gray-Dort, Brockville Atlas, C.C.M., as well as many more Canadian-made vehicles, we show the impact the Canadian auto industry has had throughout the years.
We, of course, have vehicles from many other countries such as Rolls Royce, Morris, Amphicar, Ahrens-Fox, Reo, etc. Many, if not all of these, while not made in Canada, have certainly contributed to the development of the auto in Canada.
A recent addition to our collection consists of ten vehicles and the entire library from the now extinct Craven Foundation in Toronto.
Our 25,000 sq. ft. building in Oshawa was originally a 1920's car dealership and is maintained to display that period of architecture right down to the original elevator used to move cars to the second floor.
Bicycles, tools, musical instruments, radios, televisions, graphics, photos, etc., relating to the periods of the cars are used throughout the building.
The Museum and Gift Shop are open Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Saturday and Sunday 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. - 364 day a year, closed only on Christmas Day.
Special rates and hours can be arranged for group tours - call for details!

Parkwood was the home of Col. Sam McLauglin founder of General Motors. After his death the house and grounds became the property of The Oshawa General Hospital.
It has been developed into a museum showcasing the McLauglin family, their treasures and life. As well the estate has become quite popular with the Hollywood film industry. Although I don' t know the names of the films that have shot scenes there, the list is extensive. Several times during the course of the year Parkwood will be off limits to the public for this reason. It's generally easy to tell when there is filming going on because the streets surrounding it will be filled with trucks, trailers and of course people.
