Vietnamese in the suburbs, but well situated, in front on traffic lights into IKEA on Iris street off Pinecrest/Greenbank south of the Queensway 417. Decor is Modern and comfortable. Service not exceptional but hopefully will be improving. I taste with a palate of Cantonese roots, ans taste the Asian flavours and textures in all the dishes we had. Wish they add traditional desserts instead of the supermarket green tea or mango glaces.
Favorite Dish: Prawns and tasty moist veggies accompanying the Salmon spot on, the latter was neither dry nor tasteless.

There is a very popular coffee chain in Canada - Tim Hortons. My Canadian friends frequent Tim Hortons - so I have been to quite a few of their coffee houses, both in Ottawa and in Quebéc.
Favorite Dish: In this case it would be coffee. There is free Wifi at Tim Hortons, which comes in very handy when you are on the road.

Pho Fast Food is always a fine choice for a filler aka comfort food, sometime it's a vietnamese SUB for $2, this time Lu who says Ottawa Pho is far superior to what she can get in Toronto, we headed for Somerset, where there is in excess of 10 Pho shops within 750Metres, We were headed for the ever reliable Pho Bo Go La, but parked in front of Pho Thu Do, the green sign was inviting, those eating inside indicated a popular choice for many. Service proved prompt and obviously a family business with multiple genrations cooperating.
I'll be back again

While looking for things to do in Ottawa I came across Greggor58 tips and we decided on meeting for coffee.
Bridghead is a chain of coffeehouses with solely organic tea and coffee and fair trade. They suprised me in that they don't sell water and said we could go to a café across the road. It was a heat-wave in Ottawa when I was visiting (May 2010) but as we had told Greggor we would meet him at Bridgehead I got peppermint tea.
There is Wifi at Bridgehead, but one has to get a code from them and it is valid for an hour. I have also visited Bridgehead in Bank street in Glebe. I would opt for another café as I would like my Internet connection to last for the whole time I am visiting the café.
Opening hours:
Monday to Saturday: 6:30-22:00.
Sunday: 6:30-21:00.

I was with here two students from Michigan, one of whom was inexperienced with Indian cuisine, and my colleague David, who has lived in England and is completely addicted to it, the spicier the better. We were able to order a variety of dishes to please every palate, although I have to admit that the spicy lamb vindaloo defeated me. This was some of the best and freshest Indian food I've had on this side of the Atlantic.
When we arrived at the restaurant, it was around 7.00 and nearly empty. But as time passed, more and more people arrived, so this is evidently a place quite popular with the locals.

Favorite Dish: On Feb. 19th 2009, President Barack Obama visited Ottawa and made a quick stop at Le Moulin de Provence to buy a cookie. Ever since, they have been creating these same cookies (now appropriately called "Obama Cookies"), with the same recipe as always.
These cookies (simple shortbread in the shape of a Maple Leaf, with "Canada" written on them), represent a new era in US-Canada relations.
With the exclamation "I love this Country!", Obama warmed the hearts of every Canadian on this cold February afternoon, during this historic visit to Ottawa.

Royal Oak consistently voted "Best Pub" by numerous Ottawa publications.
The Oak has something to meet everyone’s taste: from bangers and mash to chicken, beef and vegetarian pot pies to wraps, curries and liver and onions...
All Royal Oak locations feature live music on most Friday and Saturday nights, typically a blend of classic rock, folk and Irish.
Favorite Dish: Sure, it's 'pub meal but our fish and chips were awesome. The beer selection is great too - The Royal Oak specializes in Belgian draft beers.

A Prime Pub is a chain of Irish-style pubs and restaurants, with several locations in Ontario. Brands include Fionn MacCool's, Paddy Flaherty's and D'Arcy McGee's.
This D'Arcy McGees has a great location and a nice interior; the beers selection is very good too.
Horrible food with lousy service!
The menu choices were pathetic but we did not expect anything spectacular from the pub meal.
People who arrived much later were served first. The food took about another 40 minutes to appear... My salad and pie were acceptable, but Tim's Hamburger was a charcoal!
We won't be back!
Favorite Dish: - none. This place is just a big disappointment and a tourist trap!
