Pelee Island is in the middle of Lake Erie and the most southerly point in Canada
( the same latitude as northern California ).
You can get to the island vis a ferry from Sandusky , Ohio or Kingsville , Ontario
( about a 3 hour trip). Ignore all posted schedules and confirm ferry times the night before you intend to go. Dispite what the schedules said we got a 7:30 ferry from Kingsville . There are B&B;s on Pelee Island if you desire to stay overnight but book ahead as there are not many to choose from . If you catch a 7:30 ferry and arrive at 10:30 you may choose to rent bikes at the ferry dock and bike aroung the island. It is a pleasent bike ride as the terrain is 100% flat. You should be able to bike the whole island , oick up a lunch along the way and arrive back at the ferry dock in time for the return trip ( say 3:00 pm ).
Favorite thing: In addition to biking , beaches , and B&B's Pelee Island is home to the Pelee Island Winery. Most people spend all of their time at the winery .
