Visit the Theatre, Port Hope

Fergie01 Says:  Capital Theatre in the town of Port Hope is a part of the town's history. Located in the centre of town. It has now been redesigned, but still has the old main entrance for that Grand Experience. They offer plays, movies, and sometimes, just come to relax and hear a...

Capitol Theatre

Capitol Theatre, Port Hope

j-bro Says:  The Capitol is (I believe) Canada's last remaining atmospheric theatre. What this means is that when inside the theatre it is meant to feel as though you are inside an English garden. The walls are painted as bricks with lots of foliage. On the ceiling stars twinkle and...

Capital Theatre...

The Capital Theatre entertains, matinees and nightly, with theatre plays, music, and movies.
I would recommend going.... it is a step back in time, although they have updated the building by adding a new tourist center(to the left of the theatre) inside the main theatre still remains the same, just like it was. Very Quaint.

Lights up at night, just like you would think of a old theatre....Just saw "SOUND OF MUSIC", it was brilliant.

Sneak peak for next years 2007 Theatre Production is "OKLAHOMA", (Rogers & Hammerstein).

Dress Code: I would say so...it feels better anyway when someone dresses up to do something special...

There are different ways to get to Port Hope....Tour Buses are common ground in coming to Port Hope. The 'Capital Theatre' is one main reason for tourists. They also have time to shop thru our many antique shops or dine at one of our many quaint restaurants, before a matinee or evening performance.

Probably your best bet is to check out your local travel company on tours to see Port Hope!!
