In a nutshell
a town from the past
The Capital Theatre entertains, matinees and nightly, with theatre plays, music, and movies.
I would recommend going.... it is a step back in time, although they have updated the building by adding a new tourist center(to the left of the theatre) inside the main theatre still remains the same, just like it was. Very Quaint.
Lights up at night, just like you would think of a old theatre....Just saw "SOUND OF MUSIC", it was brilliant.
Sneak peak for next years 2007 Theatre Production is "OKLAHOMA", (Rogers & Hammerstein).
Dress Code: I would say so...it feels better anyway when someone dresses up to do something special...

Address: Queen Street, Port Hope
There are different ways to get to Port Hope....Tour Buses are common ground in coming to Port Hope. The 'Capital Theatre' is one main reason for tourists. They also have time to shop thru our many antique shops or dine at one of our many quaint restaurants, before a matinee or evening performance.
Probably your best bet is to check out your local travel company on tours to see Port Hope!!

Be Careful when going down to the ganaraska river, in the winter, the rocks are slippery and some people have fallen in....there is a current as well. So please look at the water from the shore line behind the barriers....

Metered Parking.....just a reminder he is out there somewhere, and if you haven't put your money in....then expect the unexpected. A parking "Ticket".
Unique Suggestions: They is FREE parking behind the shops on the North side, and along Queen Street past the library...hehe...good luck.
