Welland Canal connecting Lakes Ontario and Erie 2
airkarat Says:
I grew up within walking distance to Lock 1 and we would often bike here and spend the day asking the sailors to throw down coins. At one point I had a coin collection of over 100 from Europe and the Middle East. Nowadays I see mostly Canadian and American ships. It is...
Wineries - Hernder Estate Winery
kehale Says:
We also discovered this winery at the Wine and Cheese show in Toronto in spring of 2009, after trying one of their fruit wines. They were absolutely delicious and I knew I had to get some. We didn't order at the show, so after a trip to Niagara Falls in August 2009, we...
Wineries - Rockway Glen Estates
kehale Says:
We first discovered this Winery when we attended the Wine and Cheese show in Toronto in spring of 2009. The people at the booth were friendly and more than generous with the samples that they gave us, which was great as their wine was fantastic. We particularly became fans...
Wine and words..
Sibbella Says:
Henry of Pelham Winery is host to "Shakespeare in the Vineyard" every year. This is a great event where you sit out by the winery and watch a Shakespearean play done in another version. This year was the "Comedy of Errors" done as a western. They stick to the original play...
Port Dalhousie
megs20 Says:
Definitely check out Port Dalhousie. It's a fun place, especially in the summer. There is the beach, tons of restaurants/bars, and several little shops. You can get great ice cream there. Walk along the pier, check out the lighthouse, play in the park. Oh, and the best...
Lock 3
megs20 Says:
It's one of the big "tourist" things in St. Kitts. It's where ships climb mountains! haha. I've seen it many a times, and it still remains quite the feat of engineering. I would definiely recommend checking it out from the viewing platform. Plus there is museum, a bike path,...
'Welland Canal connecting Lakes Ontario and Erie 3
airkarat Says:
Now that the lock is shut, huge pumps churn water into it, raising the ship to the new level. This is noisy and might frighten young children - in this case it is better to take them to Lock 3 where there is a museum and observation deck. The Lakeshore Rd. bridge must now...
Welland Canal connecting Lakes Ontario and Erie 1
airkarat Says:
The Welland Canal is an essential link in the transportation of goods through Canada and into the USA, connecting the Great Lakes with the St. Lawrence River (Seaway) out to the Atlantic Ocean. It runs 40km from St. Catharines to Fort Erie and allows ships to climb the...
Mai Vi: mmmmmm
megs20 Says:
This is a great little restaurant downtown. Vietnamese food...it's great! The decor is very nice, it's clean, and it's realitively inexpensive.
Crispy chicken with peanut sauce. Holy crap...it's just great. Their cold spring rolls are also amazing.
Spice of Life: Middle Eastern!
megs20 Says:
This is the cutest little restaurant, and the food is unbelievably good. It is in a great location...right in Port Dalhousie (which is by the lake, with the pier and whatnot) It is in a place called Hogan's Alley, which is basically a hill that is filled with restaurants and...
Sahla Thai: If you like Thai food!!
megs20 Says:
This restaurant is for sure my favourite in St. Catharines. It got me completely hooked on Thai food, and I try to go there whenever I am home. Soooooooooo good. It is decorated really neat as well. But its really alllll about the food. And don't worry if you don't like...
Stella's: Dance, Dance!
We are always on the hunt for a good dancing spot, and this is one of the better ones. It gets crowded though..but it's pretty big. St. Kitts definitely isn't renowned for it's nightlife, but I think this place is pretty okay.
Dress Code: Umm no jeans I think.

Huge Hiking Area
Helpfulness
megs20 8 reviews
There is this park called Short Hills. It is such a great place for hiking, and it is huge! There are so many different paths you can follow. And you bike, walk, ride a horse, whatever you want. It is so pretty there in the the summer. But make sure you have lots of time to explore...and make sure you follow the trail markers. It is very easy to get lost. It has happened to me! Yeah, maybe bring a cell phone just in case.
