While doing any outdoor activity in the area, specially during hiking and trekking in the forested areas late in the day, keep yourselves adequately covered to escape the bites of pests like black flies and mosquitoes. We found these insects too attracted to skin and hard to shoo away. Ifrah and Rayyan, as seen in this picture, suffered on both the counts.

Evenings and even afternoons can become windy and chilly. Always keep light jackets handy.

Take lots of wet wipes and water along major outdoor excursions. Day time sun can play hovoc.

    Elgin St.
This isnt really a warning because its not really a problem here. However, Elgin St is where the homeless and prostitutes are found (for the most part). Elgin is where the soup kitchens are so this is a popular area of town for people who don't have regular meals.

If you want to volunteer at a soup kitchen, they are always looking for people. I volunteered at the Elgin Street Mission in grade 8 and it really opens your eyes.
