Indian Falls Conservation Area
  • Tip Rating:
  • This is in my opinion, the most beautiful waterfall in Grey County. It is located about 30 kms from Thornbury north of Owen Sound off of County Road 1. Watch for the Conservation Area signs and the parking area on the west side of County Rd 1. To access the falls, you will walk an easy 1km trail along the Indian Creek until you reach a set of stairs which brings you up 15m to the top of a Dolomite cliff. Follow the trail and the sound of water until you are rewarded with this stunning view. For photography I would recommend visiting in the morning so that you can shoot with the sun behind you.

    Inglis Falls near Owen Sound
Inglis Falls is the most popular of the three falls located near Owen Sound. Like Indian and Jones Falls, it is also located within a conservation area. The Inglis Falls Conservation area is 200 hectares comprising of over 7 kms of hiking trails, access to the Bruce Trail and picnic area and gift shop. You will also find here the remains and a beautiful mural of the old Inglis Grist Mill that was once located here and of course, the star attraction is the 18m high Inglis Waterfall. There is a $2 parking fee fom May to Sept.

    Jones Falls, Owen Sound
Jones Falls is located in the Pottawatomi Conservation Area within 116 hectares of Niagara Escarpment land. The Bruce Trail passes by these falls and also connects to Inglis Falls 10 kms away. There are several trails to hike within the conservation area including 2.2 kms of the Bruce Trail. I parked at the Tourist Information at Springmount on Hwy #6 and followed the main trail for about 0.5 kms to the falls. When I visited in spring, there was alot of water flowing. The Pottawatomi River makes a Uturn as it approaches the falls so you can stand on a rocky outcropping with the river on your right and Jones Falls on your left.
