The ONLY real way to get around TBay is by car. Public transportation is slow and confined to the city. Although it is a small city, TBay is very spread out, so walking is not recommended. If you don't have your own car, I highly recommend renting one.

You can arrive by boat, train, plane, or auto. You can get around the city with the city transit system. This is how we have visited the fort from the marina, the only problem we had, is that it was difficult to figure out the schedule, and there wasn't a live person to talk to at our bus depot. Hopefully this has changed.

    Public transit

    by chris_i79 Written Jul 31, 2004

Thunder Bay has a public bus system that travels selected routes throughout the city. However it truly is a car city. A lot of things are spread out and the sights or locations that you may want to visit are usually outside of the city and unaccessible by bus. When visiting the city I would suggest renting a car and exploring the surrounding areas.

Good system of buses to get you around the city. Drivers are friendly and can provide valuable advice on how to get to a spot.
Fare is $2.25 adult (since April 2003) and transfers are free for the asking on board the bus.
you can also take a bus to/from the airport into the city
    arrives hourly at terminal
