Chi-Cheemaun dinner cruise is just a ferry run
The dinner cruise offered by the Chi-Cheemaun is a bit of a misnomer. It's not really a cruise, it's simply the ferry's usual run to Manitoulin and back, except you sit in a nice eating area and enjoy a fancy meal.
By the time you finish eating, the sun has set! Being on deck is a wind-tunnel experience, and unless you're docking at either end of the run, there's nothing to see but water, water, and more water. You really don't get a good glimpse of the flowerpot islands either. We also had the unfortunate luck of having a wonderful table-side view of some of the boats mechanical parts, which obscured our view of water, water, and more water. Additionally, be warned that most guests are 40 +, if not older.
Unique Suggestions: Enjoy the sunset, let your food get cold instead. The food is good too. We had a decent time and the other guests were interesting. But if wasn't a cruise, wasn't what we expected, and for the money...well...we would have spent it elsewhere to be honest.
But if you're going to Manitoulin anyway, you might as well have a good meal while doing it!
Fun Alternatives: There are private operators that offer tours of the islands and the peninsula.
