maps, websites & brochures, Toronto
The best place to find out what's going on during your visit to Toronto, pick up a copy of NOW Magazine. NOW has the most extensive list of concerts, events, art exhibits, and film listings in the city. NOW is a weekly publication which comes out on Thursdays. You can also get the online edition at www.nowtoronto.com.
Best of all, it's free! You can pick it up from green NOW boxes that are all over the city.
P.S. I met my husband through the personal ads in NOW.
Keep in mind the organization of Toronto. There are 2 axis : Bloor Street which splits the city in North and South & Yonge which does the same West and East.
Fondest memory: Walk along West Bloor Street is pleasant. We crossed lively areas with shops and restaurants. I recommend the Greek and Chinese districts.

The following is a list of very good Toronto websites that will help you plan your visit. I can vouch for their accuracy since I use them personally myself to find stuff around Toronto.
Toronto.com - http://www.toronto.com/
* General website for everything Toronto. Including events, movie times, restaurants, sports, shopping, and news.
Canada411.ca - http://www.canada411.ca/
* Search engine to find an address or phone number. Type in the name or business you're looking for and it will find it.
Toronto Transit Commission - http://www.ttc.ca/
* Maps, rates, and schedules for Toronto's transit system and surrounding cities.
Eye Magazine - http://www.eye.net/
* Eye is a fringe newspaper in Toronto, but their site has useful information including showtimes and event listings (including clubs).
Favorite thing: Toronto.com is the best website if you're looking for information about the city. It lists hundreds of thousands of restaurants, bars, clubs, etc... It shows customer reviews, and has patio guides and dinning guides. Also great to check movie times and review. Even though I live in Toronto, and know the city pretty well, I'm always on this website for the latest news. Also, it has an events Calendar!
Pick up a copy of NOW Magazine.
New editions hit the stands every Thursday afternoon, and other than being an excellent guide to what's hip and happening around the streets of Toronto for the coming week, it's also free. Now I ask you, how can you go wrong?
To find out the latest news, weather, and traffic in Toronto, go to 680news.com. They have a live link to their broadcast from the site as well as weather and traffic links.
This station is "All news" in 30 minute chunks (current events, sports, biz, weather, traffic in 30 mins).
This web page should help you get an insight to Toronto before you arrive, help save time and increase your enjoyment.
They make available very good City Maps - FREE.
Pick up the free weekly newspapers on what's happening around the city that week. The eye(http://www.eye.net/) and Now(http://www.nowtoronto.com/) are both great.
Fondest memory: The amazing fall weather and scenery.
