Nightclubs and bars: Wednesday Nights at Club Menage
  • Tip Rating:
  • I personally believe that Menage is only good on Wednesday nights, infact there aren't too many other places that you can say that about. Wednesdays are better knows as "Wayback Wednesdays" with Tony Monaco This place has a great environment, you don't see weird people and the girls are usually never stuck up so guys will have a good time. "Cover Charge on Wednesdays is $5 and free for ladies until a certain time, that should be on the website, but I am pretty sure it's free before 11"

they say no hats, ripped jeans or running shoes (you'll probably get away with wearing running shoes and I've seen people with ripped jeans)

Nightclubs and bars: The Place NOT to go!
  • Tip Rating:
  • Any place that opens at 9am on a Sunday means TROUBLE!! This is where all the chemical freaks end up when they stil want to party after everyplace else has shut down... Unless you WANT to see people passed out with their eyes rolling in the back of their heads, stay away... However, if you're bored on a Sunday, go hang out near the place...it's like going to the zoo..

    anything goes..

Nightclubs and bars: Special Events at The Guvernment
  • Tip Rating:
  • Guvernment is a huge entertainment complex that has a bunch of different rooms and this is where some big events are held for highly publicized DJs. On a normal occasion saturday nights are good at guvernment. If you go on the website you will see a list of all the big upcoming events.

Located on the South East Corner of Bathurst and Bloor, right across the street from Amnesia (no, I'm not kidding) this funky little place is the DIVINE! The wait staff is amazing (the waiter Dave is a hottie!) the food is excellent and the Mojito's are YUM!! Grab a table and a bite or sit back on the couch and groove out to the Dj's spinning classics..go on, take your shoes off...stay awhile!!

    clothes...

Nightclubs and bars: Friday Nights at Club VII
  • Tip Rating:
  • Cover Charge is $12 on Fridays, Club 7 is also open on Saturdays but there are much better places to go to on Staurday nights. You can usually get free passes to this place if you're out early. This place is not very large but it's really worth going to at least once. If there is a special event being held, make sure you're on the guest list (you can do this on the website)

The dress code is not very strict but it's better to not wear hats any type of pants you wear can be accepted unless they're really ripped up

Nightclubs and bars: Sunday nights at Money
  • Tip Rating:
  • Money is great on Sundays and also very crowded, If you're a whole bunch of guys make sure you go there early cause you might not be able to get in if you're too late. You might want to be there around 10:30 and make sure you're on the guest list (You can get on the guestlist from the website) Cover charge is $10

No running shoes or ripped jeans, sometimes they can be very strict so guys you might want to wear a dress shirt and dress pants.

Eating and drinking: Basement Treasure .....
  • Tip Rating:
  • 5th time's the charm? After dropping my bags at the hotel, we were to meet up somewhere in town. We were directed to the area near the place we had dinner. Our directions were 'go to the pub on the corner, we're downstairs' ...... try as we might, none of the pubs we entered even HAD a downstairs! So Saucey was dispatched to the curb to flag us down ........ believe me, had she not been there, we would have missed this little treasure .... PJ O'Brien's pub is in the basement of the old Flatiron Building. This oddly shaped creation fills an oddly shaped corner lot near Church/Yonge/Front/Wellington intersection. Built in 1892, it has had many names, and many uses. Today it houses food houses and offices. The pub itself is in the basement - and reached from the pointy corner of the building down a curved set of stairs.Watch the doorstep though - it's hidden in the shadows :) Upon entering, you are surrounded by dark, rich, pub-like decor, Friendly staff, and slightly drunken patrons (also friendly). This seems to be more of a locals hangout than a tourist spot - just right for our extended VT family :) We managed to kill enough time here to close the place down. We missed the live entertainment, but that was okay, we brought our own :) I wrote this thinking it's name was PJ O'Brien's Pub, but I got an email today that it's actually Firkin at Flatiron. I'm not sure which one is correct since I don't live in TO. BUT just in case, I wanted to let you folks know the name(s). Regardless of the title, the pub is wonderful!

Nightclubs and bars: Thursday Nights at METRO
  • Tip Rating:
  • This place used be called G-Spot a long time ago than it closed down for a while and it's been back recently as "Metro", it's still a great place and pretty good on Thursday nights. This is also another place with a good crowd, not filled with a whole bunch of weirdos.

Usually not too strict, just don't wear ripped up clothing

    The Horseshoe Tavern: Live Bands
  • Tip Rating:
  • It's dark, sweaty and a little tight; just the way it should be. I went to see The Sounds w/ The Raveonettes when they played here last May and had a GREAT time. The Horseshoe is the perfect venue for checking out some of the local up and coming bands, as well as some pretty cool International acts. The Horseshoe Tavern has been a Toronto music landmark forever, seeing the likes of Stompin' Tom and Ronnie Hawkins getting sloshed in the early days up at the front bar. Take a peek at their site for what's coming up next; you just never know who'll you'll trip over on your way to the can.

Jeans are allowed and encouraged, but please,...no cowboy hats; Tyrone is allergic.

Bovine Sex Club: For Creatures Of The Night
  • Tip Rating:
  • The Bovine Sex Club has been a hip and happening hangout for the dark and disturbed Goth/Industrial/Metal/Punk/Glam crowd since '91. Although I'm sure you'll see a bit of groping going on here and there, this isn't an "actual" sex club full of fat, married, 50 year old men searching for that Playboy Bunny to call their own for a night. Sorry fellas,...you're just going to have to head up to Montreal for that sort of monkey business.

Leather is always good, but black vinyl is even better. Leave the cross-trainers at home and don't even THINK of wearing your favorite Justin Timberlake Tour shirt here.
