Don't look down! Don't worry, the "Glass Floor" can hold up to 2 hippos;) The CN Tower is the largest free-standing structure in the world. The glass floor and observation deck reach to a height of 342 m (1,122 ft)!. On a clear day, you can see the mist of the Niagara Falls (75km away) from this tower if you bring binoculars.

  • THE landmark in Toronto is the CN Tower. You can see it from virtualy anywhere you are in the city. With it's 553 meters height - it's bigger than most of the surrounding buildings. Besides admiring the building, you can also go inside - and upwards. There is an observation deck located at 342 meters above the ground. A ticket will cost you 19,99 Canadian dollar. This gives you entrance to the observatory and the glass floor. Inside the building you can also visit the restaurant for lunch or dinner. Actually tere are 3. There's the 360 restaurant, Horizon's Cafe and market place plaza.

    CN Tower: The Glass Floor
  • Tip Rating:
  • The glass floor of the CN Tower completely freaked me out at first. I practically had to crouch on hands and knees to look through it, but I couldn't go home without saying I had stood on it could I. It took a good 15 minutes of dithering. It is suppose to stand the weight of 6 hippos (OR WAS IT 60) Anyway, it stood my weight.

  • The elevator to the observation deck of the Tower takes 58 seconds to get up there. It's actually quite a smooth ride. The elevator attendent chats to you on the way up to reassure any chickens !!!

    CN Tower: The CN tower
  • Tip Rating:
  • Let me start with these "must see activities" with the biggest tourist attraction (I think) of Toronto : the CN tower! This picture of the tower was taken from inside the Skydome (the baseball stadium of the "Toronto Blue Jays"), which is next to the CN tower. The CN tower is the world's tallest free-standing structure and was built in 1976. The tower measures 553 metres in height. From its Lookout Level it offers a great view of the city. A fun feature is the glass floor, you can test your courage by taking a walk across the glass floor 113 stories above the ground. Hahaha, I did it! after some hesitation though, hahaha. From there you can travel even higher up the tower to the Sky Pod another 33 storeys above ground. Prices There are several packages that visitors can purchase. The Total Tower Experience package includes the Look Out, Glass Floor, Sky Pod, a film, and two rides for $29.99 per person. Observation Experience packages includes the Look Out, Glass Floor and Skypod for $22.49 (Adult 13-64), $20.49 (Senior 65+), and $17.49 for children (4-12). The Look Out and Glass Floor package goes for $15.99 (adults), $13.99 (seniors) and $10.99 (children). Location : You can't miss see the CN tower, because it dominates the skyline of Toronto. It is located in the heart of Downtown Toronto, right in between the SkyDome and the Metro Toronto Convention Centre on Front Street, just north of Bremner Blvd Hours : Sunday - Thursday : 10:00am - 10:00pm Friday - Saturday : 10:00am - 11:00pm

    CN Tower: The glass floor
  • Tip Rating:
  • When you get up the tower, you HAVE to stand on the Glass Floor! Hahaha, I did! Yep, I found it very scary, it took me quite a while before I dared to put a foot on it. Totally stupid of course to be so afraid, because there is no difference between standing on the normal floor or the glass floor.... except for the view.... eeeeeks! The Glass Floor has been specifically designed for the CN Tower. It is 256 square feet of solid glass that is five times stronger than the required weight bearing standard for commercial floors. It could actually withstand the weight of 14 large hippos.... well, that is what their website says, hahahaha, but why would anyone would like to put 14 large hippos on there!?

When you look down from the CN tower you can see the Skydome (or nowadays called Rogers Centre), the baseball stadium of the Toronto Blue Jays. And I was in luck.... the roof of the Dome was open and a game was in play! Fascinating to see a baseball game from this high. Hahaha, I couldn't resist.... With the binoculars and zoom on my camera I was able to look a little bit at the baseball game :-)) Oh, how I wished I was in that stadium at that moment!

  • The CN Tower is the largest freestanding structure in North America...or something like that. It is quite large. Apparently people spend a great deal of money to go up inside. Not exactly something I would be into, but I do like how my picture came out.
