As seen from the skypod on top the CN Tower. This highway is the main connection between Toronto and other cities such as Mississauga, Hamilton, and Montreal. Lake Ontario (on the left) is the smallest lake of the five "Great Lakes" but it is still very big. If you go up to the shoreline you won't be able to see the U.S, but from the CN Tower's skypod, you will if it is sunny enough. You will also get a great view of Toronto's shoreline airport. You will be able to see Cessnas and other small aircraft land and take off-but bring binoculars, they can help out a lot!

Would'nt want to be down there at midnight..This part of Toronto attracts the rich and famous. Just last year, Jackie Chan came to film his "The Tuxedo" movie here. There are many limos and great resturants to be seen in the financal district. There's barely any crime on the streets becuase Toronto employs a lot of policemen/women. There might be a lot of homeless people here though, so bring a few extra bucks if you can.

    CN Tower: The CN Tower
  • Tip Rating:
  • The CN Tower is the largest free standing structure in the world. It's not the largest building (that title currently goes to a few buildings in Kuala Lumpur). The Tower is 1815 ft tall, and an observation deck at 1122 ft, and a sky-pod observation deck at 1465 ft.

But before you get to the top, you have to take the elevator.... brrrrr, I find this one scary! Hahaha, it is a glass-fronted elevator, so you see exactly how quickly you go up. And with my fear of heights, that is quite scary. There are six of these glass-fronted, high-speed elevators. They travel at a rate of 22 km/hour (15 miles/hour). It takes only 58 seconds to reach to Look Out Level at 346 m (1,136 ft). A separate elevator brings you up another 33 storeys to the Sky Pod level for a full 360 degree unobstructed view.

Just like every other Toronto Must See Tip on VT, I am going to say "You Must Go Up the CN Tower". It's not cheap. One ticket for an adult is $22 CDN. I was suckered into buying 2 Observation tickets and 2 Simulator Rides. Total damage - $50!! The Simulator Rides are very lame. They try to be like the "Back To the Future" ride at Universal Studios, or the "Race to Atlantis" ride in Vegas, but they fail miserably. It was about as thrilling as moderate air turbulence on a small plane. Avoid the rides. The Tower is neat. There is a spectacular view of the city and Lake Ontario, and there is a small section that has a glass floor. We couldn't get near it due to a large Asian Tour Group that was wildly excited about it, but it is cool none-the-less. Bring your camera! If you look closely, you can see the glass floor in the tower.

  • Guess the tower must be the biggest attraction for Toronto - the world's tallest free-standing structure at 553 metres, built in 1976 There are 3 parts to see - the lookout view, glass floor view 113 floors high and the skypod which is another 33 floor levels up above. certainly worth it for the clear views of the city in winter.

Look at that shadow! The glass floor and observation deck reach to a height of 342 m (1,122 ft). This one of a kind floor can hold more then 2 hippos, so don't worry about it cracking or anything. It is well worth the visit to Toronto if you walk on this "glass floor". You will be able to see skydome and maybe a baseball game if the Blue Jays are playing, but bring binoculars becuase the people will look like ants ; )

  • The CN Tower stands out in the background in almost any picture you take in downtown Toronto. The view from the very top is breath taking. While here on business my partner and I had the please of attending a catered dinner on the top of the revolving tower. There were foods from all of the provinces of Canada available along with jazz bands for our enjoyment.
