Ok, first of all, I have never been inside the Casa Loma. Therefore, I can't really comment on its interiors. The buiding is already interesting as such, I mean, from an architectural point of view. So, it's already worth to be seen, no matter if you go inside it or not. Casa Loma is a real life medieval castle. It was built in 1911, by Sir William Henry Mill Pellatt, a prominent financier, industrialist, and military man. Sir Henry Pellatt earned his riches by building the CPR to the west. He used his earnings to build the first Canadian hydro generating station at Niagara Falls. In 1905 he purchased 25 residential lots on top of the Davenport Escarpment, and hired architect Edward James Lennox, designer of the city’s most prominent buildings, including the old city hall, to build his castle, what is now Casa Loma. It took three hundred men nearly three years to build Casa Loma, at a cost of $3,500,000, which at that time was an unprecedented amount of money to pay for a home. Sir Henry enjoyed his dream home for less than ten years before mounting debts forced him to turn Casa Loma over to the City of Toronto. This is an old mansion which was bought by the Kiwanis and remodeled into quite the popular tourist attraction. There are something like 98 rooms in this mansion, and the grounds are quite beautiful (I believe that you can roam the grounds without paying the admission into Casa Loma). Leave a Comment

Two tales here. Basically, the adults and the 8 year old liked it, the 4 year old didn't. Plenty to look at, but our four year old wants to "do," not "look." The 8 year old liked the girl scout stuff. Several blocks from rail station, but not too bad. Used our CityPass. Leave a Comment
