events / festivals: Doors Open
If you're in TO on the weekend of May 29 and 30. Come visit TO because over 50 tourist attractions/historical sites are open to the public for FREE! Yes you heard me for free. This year is the 5th anniversary! In addition, they are offering deals (hotel and dining) to those coming from out of town. The Doors Open event is an annual event which is held in May. I've been to this event for the past 3 years and it's great! Make sure you get there early because some of the more famous places you need to line up for!

  • The Canadian National Exhibition has a long history.... 128 years to be exact. At one time THE place for agriculture in Ontario, this is where the farmers and ranchers would come to auction and show off their livestock and the prize winning crops. Now the annual fair is filled with cotton candy, ferris wheels but there is still the livestock. Highlights always include the butter sculptures, the internation shopping bazzar and of course THE FOOD BUILDING! I must, must, MUST have a Maggie's Hotdog, though this year the price went up. Now $1.25 but I swear the hot dog was bigger so that is probably why she put the price up. I also have to have Tiny Tom Donuts (cinnimon is the best) and that fresh pressed lemonade. The rides are a little pricey as are the games but a day at The Ex is still a perfect summer tradition. Runs every end of August with Labour Day as the final, closing day!

events / festivals: Toronto Gay Pride Parade!! 20 June- 26 2005
The funniest festival I have ever seen in my life. The gay pride is a common festival in Toronto. Thousands of people around North America visit Toronto for this day every year. Thousands of people walk downtown with extraoriginal costumes, by cabrio cars and motorcyles. People dance on streets, kiss, hug and a huge festival for such a minority in the society. Believe it or not, everybody tell this in Toronto that Canada or Toronto has a big gay population among other North American cities. Now here is some more info about the pride which I copied from a website>>>>>>> Pride Toronto is the not-for-profit organization that hosts Pride Week, an annual event in downtown Toronto that happens each year during the last week of June. Pride Week is one of only eight officially designated City of Toronto “Signature Events”, and in 2004 was designated one of the "Top 50 Festivals in Ontario" (FEO). Pride Week celebrates our diverse sexual and gender identities, histories, cultures, creativities, families, friends and lives. It includes a participatory, week long festival, a three-day arts fest with over ten entertainment stages, a weekend street fair (including a community fair and market place), a Dyke March and a Pride Parade. Pride Toronto employs four full time staff and we rely on the leadership and energy of literally hundreds of volunteers to make this enormous event happen each year. In 2003, the Toronto Star estimated more than one million people attended the annual Pride Parade, making Pride Week in Toronto one of the largest events of it’s kind in the world.

events / festivals: Fall Family Fun
There is tons going on in Toronto and the GTA. The changing leaves are so beautiful and you can feel an excitement in the air. It would be too hard to include them all, but a shame to miss out on all the fun. You can check out KiddingAroundToronto.com's events calendar for a detailed list of Fall festivals throughout each month. Happy Fall!

events / festivals: Crash The TIFF Opening Night Gala
This is a great thing to do, mostly for all of the fantastic food. It's not that difficult to get a ticket, you just need to know somebody that knows somebody, and then you're right in for a night of gorging with other random people that happened to know somebody that knew somebody. Sadly, you'll see a lot of young, gorgeous girls dancing with ugly, old producers, trying to snag a role they're simply not going to get but hey, is that an all-you-can-eat Chinese noodle bar?!

  • Address: It's printed on the ticket.
  • Directions: Probably out on the CNE grounds but will soon change to that tower downtown.
