Casa Loma - Castle or Shack?
OK, so, I'm sure Casa Loma is described very nicely in most guide books, but I think its a big tourist trap. If you're European, don't bother going, I'm sure you see buildings more impressive to this on your way to work! But if you've never seen a "castle" before, go if you must!
Unique Suggestions: Take a walk in their beautiful gardens, they are truly one of a kind in Toronto.
Fun Alternatives: Try going to Osgoode Hall at Queen and University. Its an amazing building, much more opulent, FREE, and not as many tourists!
It's an artificial medieval style castle builded in the end of the 19th century. Personnally, this place is very expensive (10$ for a short visit) and it's too much touristic. Oh, It's real, you have a big gift shop, know you can imagine the place...
Unique Suggestions: Go during week days, soon.
Fun Alternatives: Just walk in the streets around the castle, it's free and you can see a lot of old big house (victorian style)
CASA LOMA is a top destination...
CASA LOMA is a top destination and was built by Canadian financier Sir Henry Pellatt in 1914 simply to fulfill a childhood fantasy of owning a castle. Its secret passageways, breathtaking towers and sweeping staircase continue to enchant visitors and even looks a little errie at night. Today, Casa Loma is owned by the City of Toronto , operated by the Kiwanis Club and attracts about 400,000 tourists a year. The entire time i was there I visualised kicking everybody out and living there...it must be a common fantasy;-) Casa Loma is located at 1 Austin Terrace at Spadina Rd.Toronto M5R 1X8 phone: (416) 923-1171 e-mail: email@example.com
