The river looks so serene and pretty. It also looks extremely tempting to swim across. Do not even think of doing so. The cross-current is far stronger then we realize. You can easily be swept away. Over and above this danger, I doubt this activity is legal anyway. Leave a Comment

Windsor is part college town, part blue-collar industry town. For maximum enjoyment, stay Downtown. This puts you between The University district and some of the unique areas in Walkerville. There is very little of interest to tourists further east, beyond Walker Road. Avoid the entire stretch of Drouillard, which is very seedy. Great place if you like junky old slumlord rental houses, strip clubs and porn shops. Absolutely avoid the Sandwich district, anywhere west of the Ambassador Bridge/Huron Church Rd. This is drug territory, where dealers peddle their goods in plain sight. This area is industrial and offers nothing of any value for a tourist, so theres really no need to go there. Even the locals rule out this area as a place to go. The south end is largely suburbanized, but Devonshire mall is cool. Try to use the tunnel instead of the bridge. The bridge leads from the outskirts of Windsor into a neighborhood in Detroit. The tunnel connects the downtown areas of both cities, keeping you in the epicenter of the fun areas.
