Eglise Saint-Amelie

The Florentine Artist " Guido Nincheri" painted the Fresco's and stained glass windows in the church. The architecture in the "dom Bellot" style is composed of pink granite from the North shore of the St. Lawrence River.

BAR

The picture is of the Bar and the wall at the back is solid rock and part of the mountain as the hotel is built into the mountain third floor being on the top of this hill. They have two rooms available and we had the main dining room for 52 people including our driver and guide. We had supper and breakfast here and they were excellent with good service.

Favorite Dish: Fresh salmon plate for supper
Bacon and eggs for breakfast.

Warnings and Dangers

Sandbars and Rising Tides
CoastalKid profile photo
CoastalKid 1 reviews

The huge assortment of sandbars revealed in the St. Lawrence River behind Champlain Avenue can be an interesting place to explore, especially on a warm sunny day, but find out what the daily tide schedule is before you go, or keep a wary eye on whether the tide is going out or coming in while you are out there. As the tide rises, the sandbars tend to become encircled, cutting them off from the shoreline, and the water temperatures in the St. Lawrence River can be extremely cold, even for wading.

We now took route 138 (after dinner at La Mal Baie) 2.40PM. If one wanted to go the CASINO you take 362 West to POINT AUX PIC
It was foggy all the way through mountain passes as big as one sees in the West ROCKY MOUNTAINS.
We finally arrived at the ferry to cross The Saguenay River at BAIE ST CATHERINE at 4PM.

Map of trip

We left Joliette a6t 7.40 AM ( 50 Seniors on a 7 day bus tour of Eastern and Northern Quebec as far as Labrador.
first stop at Trois Rivieres to have breakfast and pick up our guide ( Big surprise it was our niece). Next stop was St. Anne De Beaupre for 15 minutes.
The temperature was 33%C. outside our air conditioned bus.
We were on Route 138 until Baie-St. Paul and then took the scenic road 362 which took us through canyons, mountains. big hills . We stopped to check the brakes ( It is the Law) at Les Eboulements. ( A bus load of Seniors were killed here when their brakes failed a few years ago. The Hill and road have been made safer since.
From here we could see Ile Aux Coudres. ( I visited it in 1982) A ferry boat takes you and your car their and a road circles the island. You can see all the old original homes and visit historical sites.
